Samsung Details Flex Titanium Display Technology Ahead of July 22 Galaxy Unpacked

Samsung is continuing its build-up to Galaxy Unpacked with another teaser, this time focusing on the technology behind its next-generation foldable smartphones. Just days after previewing an AI-powered Galaxy Watch, the company has introduced Flex Titanium, a new display structure designed to improve durability, reduce crease visibility, and enable slimmer foldable devices.

The new technology will debut with Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy foldables at Galaxy Unpacked on July 22, where the company is also expected to unveil its latest Galaxy Watch alongside the next Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip smartphones.

Flex Titanium Uses a New Two-Layer Titanium Structure

According to Samsung, Flex Titanium combines two titanium-based components—a titanium-alloy film positioned beneath the OLED panel and a titanium plate that supports the display module from below. Together, they are designed to strike a balance between strength, flexibility, and a thinner overall device profile.

The company says the titanium-alloy film offers 20 times greater mechanical stiffness than conventional polymer films while remaining extremely thin, measuring roughly one-third the thickness of a human hair. The titanium plate, meanwhile, incorporates a micro-patterned hole structure that improves support when the display is unfolded while retaining the flexibility needed for repeated folding.

Samsung also says the display integrates a new high-resolution architecture and next-generation organic materials that improve power efficiency without compromising display quality. The overall goal, according to the company, is to deliver a stronger foldable display with a less noticeable crease and a more immersive viewing experience.

Built on Seven Generations of Foldable Development

Samsung says Flex Titanium is the result of seven generations of foldable smartphone development and years of customer feedback. The company notes that users have consistently sought larger, more immersive displays with reduced crease visibility while expecting foldables to remain durable enough for everyday use.

“Samsung’s strength in the foldable category comes from connecting user needs with our technologies that deliver tangible benefits in everyday life,” said Sunghoon Moon, Executive Vice President and Senior Executive, Mobile R&D Office – H/W, Samsung Electronics. He added that the latest display innovations are intended to further improve the overall viewing experience on Samsung’s next-generation foldables.

Samsung Is Putting the Spotlight on the Foldable Experience

With Galaxy Unpacked just days away, Samsung’s pre-launch messaging suggests the company is putting as much emphasis on the foldable experience as it is on AI. While the earlier teaser focused on bringing Galaxy AI deeper into health tracking through the next Galaxy Watch, this announcement highlights the hardware innovations aimed at making foldables more practical for everyday use.

Display quality, hinge durability, and crease visibility have become key areas of competition in the premium foldable segment. By revealing Flex Titanium ahead of launch, Samsung is signalling that improvements in the display itself will be one of the headline upgrades when its next-generation Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip devices are officially unveiled on July 22
