Apple introduced a new Action Button on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max that replaced the traditionally offered mute button. It is expected to release another new button with the iPhone 16 series i.e. Capture Button. This button is reported to support video recording with just one click. Now, a fresh leak has revealed it will be a multi-functional button that will also support zoom and focus adjustment gestures.

iPhone 16 Capture Button: What It Can Do?

A new report from The Information has offered details about what to expect from the iPhone 16 capture button. It suggests the newly added button will serve as a one-stop destination for photography enthusiasts. It will let users perform different photography-related functions quickly and from a single place.

The report talks about two particular functions zoom and focus adjustment. It says users will be able to zoom in and out by simply left and right on the iPhone 16 capture button. Clearly, the button will offer a more intuitive mode of functioning, rather than doing the same thing via on-screen options.

The capture button is said to respond to applied pressure as well. A light press will lead to focus adjustment and a slightly heavier press will activate the shutter for shooting. The report adds capture button on the iPhone 16 will be a mechanical button and not a solid state. It means users will be able to feel it moving in and out while pressing the button.

The placement of the capture button is reported to be on the right side of the iPhone and below the power button. This would make it easy to access without stretching your fingers and holding the iPhone in a particular position.

The new capture button will most likely be exclusive to the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max given Apple tends to keep high-end features for the Pro series. There have been rumours suggesting Apple testing the new button across the whole iPhone 16 series but nothing is set in stone yet.

In other related rumours, Apple is reported to offer 8GB RAM across all four iPhone 16 models. The improvement is mainly for the non-Pro models as they currently come with 6GB RAM. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are further expected to arrive with WiFi 6E support.

The iPhone 16 Pro models are said to get improved 5G connectivity, thanks to the new Qualcomm Snapdragon X75 5G modem. The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to get the Tetraprism lens offering up to 5X optical zoom which is currently exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
