  • The iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to launch with larger displays.
  • This will allow Apple to fit the tetraprism lens on the iPhone 16 Pro as well.
  • Apple is also looking to add a new camera shutter button on its upcoming iPhones.

The iPhone 15 Series saw one of the biggest upgrades from Apple, where the company introduced the dynamic island on the base models instead of the notch. The biggest highlight so far has been the switch to USB-C, along with a new tetraprism lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. But it looks like the iPhone 16 Pro series will see some more changes. The latest report from Macrumors suggests that Apple will now install a new Capture button on the iPhone 16 Pro, in addition to the Action button.

Both upcoming iPhone Pro models will also feature larger displays and a tetraprism lens as well. Let’s have a look at what the latest leaks have to say about the iPhone 16 Pro phones.

First, Apple was reportedly working on a capacitive Action button that would be placed flush with the frame of the device, according to an earlier MacRumors report. This button was codenamed Atlas and was said to feature a pressure sensor, just like the Touch ID on the iPhone 8. However, the latest documentation suggests that Apple will continue to use a mechanical Action button on upcoming iPhones. Instead, Apple will now add a new Capture button on the right side of the device.

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has reported that this button will be used for taking videos like a camera shutter. The capture button will not protrude outwards and will blend seamlessly with the frame.

Apple will also continue to use Grade 5 Titanium on all upcoming iPhone 16 Pro models. The company is also said to be working on a prototype of Silver colour for the titanium frame, which could be called ‘White Titanium’.

iPhone 15 Pro models were one of the most popular phones in India in 2023.

Macrumors also says that the iPhone 16 Pro will feature a larger 6.3-inch screen, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max shall get a 6.9-inch screen. It will be a significant upgrade over the existing 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max respectively. Apple is expected to use the same Super Retina XDR OLED panels with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Tetraprism Lens Coming to iPhone 16 Pro

Meanwhile, noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also reported that Apple will bring its tetraprism lens with 5x optical zoom to the iPhone 16 Pro. As of now, only the iPhone 15 Pro Max features the tetraprism lens, whereas the regular iPhone 15 Pro is limited to 3x optical zoom. According to the analyst, the larger screen size on the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro will create enough space to house the tetraprism lens. Apart from these changes, the primary camera is expected to remain the same on the iPhone 16 Pro.

Kuo has also mentioned that Apple will upgrade the selfie camera on the iPhone 17 to 24MP, which will be a huge upgrade from the current 12MP sensor. The company is also said to be working on in-display Face ID technology while retaining the features of the dynamic island.

Apple is currently on an upgrade streak for its smartphones, as we saw with the iPhone 15 Series. The company is also expected to provide a huge upgrade to the iPhone SE 4, switching from a decade-old design to the modern frame of the iPhone 14. However, Apple does not appear to be in a rush to push this. As per Kuo, the company plans to unveil its next special edition phone with its in-house 5G modem. The development of Apple’s 5G modem has faced multiple challenges so far, leading to delays. So yes, according to Kuo, the iPhone SE 4 is not expected to launch anytime soon.
