India’s Appliance Market Finds Its Festive Sweet Spot with Smart and Energy-Efficient Upgrades

The festive season continues to drive momentum in the large appliance market, with offers extending across October as both brands and retailers look to sustain consumer interest. From AI-powered refrigerators and washing machines to connected televisions and air conditioners, festive campaigns this year are centred around smart living, flexible finance, and long-term value.

Industry trackers indicate that demand for energy-efficient and connected appliances has grown steadily over the past two years, driven by rising electricity costs and the shift toward sustainable living. Urban buyers are gravitating toward appliances that promise lower energy use and remote monitoring, while Tier 2 and Tier 3 consumers are embracing no-cost EMI schemes and instant cashback offers to upgrade existing setups.

Samsung’s AI Push

Samsung is offering discounts of up to 47 percent and cashback benefits of up to ₹50,000 across its Bespoke AI Digital Appliances and Vision AI Television line-ups. Valid until October 31, the company's campaign covers refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and microwaves. Buyers can also avail flexible finance options such as zero down payment and long-tenure EMIs through its 20/5 finance scheme, where Samsung pays the first EMI and the consumer prepays five months in advance before converting the rest into no-cost EMIs spread over 20 months.

Samsung is also bundling premium incentives with big-screen television purchases, offering a free soundbar worth up to ₹92,990 or an AI TV worth up to ₹1,40,490, along with a three-year warranty on select models. "This Diwali, we wanted to make cutting-edge AI technology more accessible," said a company spokesperson. "Our campaign reflects the growing aspiration for smarter living, where consumers expect both performance and efficiency from their home appliances."

Haier Bets on Home Upgrades

Haier India has also launched a wide range of offers under its ‘Pay Re.1, Take Haier Home' campaign, where consumers can buy appliances by paying just one rupee upfront and converting the remaining balance into EMIs. The company is offering instant cashback of up to 25 percent, EMIs starting at ₹994, and flexible payment plans extending up to 18 months. These deals are available across categories, including refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, LED TVs, microwave ovens, and even robot vacuum cleaners.

"Diwali is all about fresh beginnings and home upgrades," said a Haier India spokesperson. "Our focus this year is on affordability, flexibility, and making innovation more accessible across households."

Across the retail landscape, the festive season has translated into healthy traffic both online and offline. Dealers in metro and Tier 2 markets report steady interest in large-format appliances, with many buyers prioritising energy-efficient refrigerators, front-load washing machines, and large-screen smart TVs. Offline retailers say customers are comparing models and financing schemes before purchase, while e-commerce platforms are driving volume through flash sales, instant exchanges, and doorstep installations.

Store owners note that footfall remains consistent, though purchasing behaviour has become more deliberate. "Customers are better informed now," said a Delhi-based multi-brand retailer. "They walk in having already compared features and reviews online. Price matters, but warranty and service support are what close the deal."

Online marketplaces, meanwhile, continue to attract younger consumers looking for bundled offers and quick installations. Categories such as smart TVs, compact washing machines, and mid-segment air conditioners are seeing the highest traction.

Push Towards Smart Devices
This year's Diwali season highlights how India's appliance market is moving toward smarter, more considered buying. Consumers are balancing festive discounts with expectations of longevity, design, and connectivity. With Samsung, Haier, and other major players extending their offers beyond October, the large appliance category is shifting from being seasonally driven to being sustained by technology, affordability, and informed decision-making.
