MOVA Launches V50 Ultra Robot Vacuum Cleaner in India at Rs 89,999

The premium robot vacuum conversation in India has long revolved around early movers like Dyson and more mainstream home-cleaning brands such as Eureka Forbes. However, the category is now entering a different phase altogether, one where global smart-home brands are trying to turn robot cleaners into aspirational lifestyle products rather than niche utility devices.

The chatter regarding premiumization has been garnering headlines since the start of 2025 and is now becoming increasingly visible with MOVA’s entry into India. The company has launched its flagship V50 Ultra robot vacuum cleaner in the country at Rs 89,999, targeting the growing premium home automation segment.

The pricing itself is telling. At nearly Rs 90,000, the V50 Ultra sits far away from the value-focused robot cleaners that helped familiarise Indian consumers with the category over the past few years. Instead, MOVA is aiming for buyers already comfortable spending on premium appliances, connected homes, and high-end cleaning systems.

Robot Vacuums Are Becoming a Premium Appliance Category

Robot vacuum cleaners in India initially grew around convenience and novelty. Brands like Milagrow helped create early awareness around automated floor cleaning, while Eureka Forbes used its wider retail familiarity to make robotic cleaners feel less intimidating for mainstream buyers. Now Dreame and Xiaomi with its feature packed, value for money propositions are helping in getting the early adopters on board.

We are also seeing newer entrants are now borrowing cues from the premium appliance playbook instead of the traditional vacuum cleaner market.

That is where brands like MOVA are trying to position themselves. The V50 Ultra focuses heavily on automation and advanced navigation rather than just app connectivity. The robot vacuum comes with a retractable LiDAR system for cleaning under low furniture, AI-powered obstacle detection, automated mop cleaning, and a claimed 24,000Pa suction system.

The product also includes features such as threshold climbing and warm-water mopping, both of which attempt to solve practical cleaning challenges in Indian homes where uneven flooring, rugs, and mixed surfaces remain common.

More importantly, the positioning increasingly resembles what happened in the premium vacuum cleaner market after brands like Dyson made high-end cleaning products aspirational for urban consumers. The conversation is slowly shifting from basic floor cleaning to automation, convenience, hygiene, and smart-home integration.

The Bigger Play Is Smart Home Expansion

MOVA’s India expansion also reflects a larger trend among Chinese smart-home companies trying to build ecosystem-led businesses instead of selling standalone gadgets.

That strategy has already become visible globally through brands expanding across robot cleaners, air purification, personal care, and connected home appliances under a single ecosystem. The V50 Ultra appears to be part of that broader ambition rather than an isolated India launch.

For India, however, the bigger challenge remains pricing. At Rs 89,999, the category is still firmly premium and unlikely to become mass-market anytime soon. However, much like air purifiers and cordless vacuums before it, robot cleaners are steadily moving from being seen as experimental gadgets to becoming a legitimate premium appliance category for urban households. People are increasingly aware of the convenience that they bring and the health advantages, so it will be intersting to see how this market plays out.
