The Motorola Moto G62 5G, priced at Rs 14,999, has been selected as the best phone of 2022 under Rs 15,000. The phone provided a balanced performance and one of the cleanest user experiences, which makes it the best phone of 2022 under this price segment.

The under Rs 15,000 smartphone price bracket is one of the most crucial segments in India. Most of the phones in this segment have entry level specs with a few highlights being the USP. For a phone, that highlight feature could be its unique design, high-megapixels camera, big display, beefy battery, or something else. This is also the segment where we get to see Unisoc chipsets powering the phone. Other segments generally have either chipset from Qualcomm or Mediatek. Indian Gadgets Awards (IGA) 2022 will take place on 31 January and it will have a title for Best Phone of 2022 under Rs 15,000. The prestigious jury of the award show has finalised six nominations in this category.

Samsung Galaxy F23 5G

The Samsung Galaxy F23 5G is ideally the most balanced from the company in this segment. It has a plain design on the back and comes in two colours – Green and Blue. Samsung has given a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G processor in the F23 5G which is one of the most optimised processors in this segment. Furthermore, the F23 5G offers support for 12 5G bands in India. The phone runs Android 12 based OneUI 4.1 out of the box and has Samsung’s exclusive UI features.

It comes with a 6.6-inch Full HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz screen refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front. The phone draws power from the 5,000mAh battery on the inside, which is backed by 25W fast charging. In terms of optics, the Galaxy F23 5G offers a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor. Selfies and video calls are handled by an 8MP camera on the front.

Motorola Moto G62 5G

Moto was on roll in 2022 by launching back to back budget smartphones but what catches our attention was the Moto G62 5G. The company upgraded its processor to Snapdragon 695 for India variant from Snapdragon 480+ for global variant. The SoC is coupled with up to 8GB of RAM along with 128GB of onboard storage. It comes with a 6.5-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with a 120Hz screen refresh rate. The device is backed by a 5,000mAh battery unit and supports 20W fast charging support. It boots Android 12 out of the box.

In the camera department, the Moto G62 5G comes with a triple rear camera setup. It features a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide sensor and a dedicated 2MP macro sensor. On the front, it packs in a 16MP selfie snapper.

iQOO Z6 5G

iQOO Z6 5G

The iQOO Z6 5G Chromatic Blue variant makes it unique in the segment. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC under the hood. The phone packs a 5000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging out of the box. The Z6 5G boots Android 12 out of the box with a layer of Funtouch OS 12 on top.

The phone has a 6.58-inch IPS LCD with a waterdrop notch on top. It has a Full HD+ resolution and supports a 120Hz refresh rate. On the back, there is a triple-camera setup. The phone has a 50MP main camera along with two 2MP sensors for macro and depth sensing. There is a 16MP front camera for selfies and video calls.

Realme 9i 

Realme 9i

While every other phone mentioned on this list has support for 5G, the Realme 9i is the only 4G phone that our jury selected for this segment. The Realme 9i flaunts a 6.6-inch 90Hz FHD+ IPS LCD display with a punch-hole cutout. Under the hood, the Realme 9i is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 680 SoC coupled with up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 internal storage.

The smartphone features a triple-camera setup. The camera module includes a 50MP main camera, 2MP B&W lens and a 2MP macro sensor. On the front side, the handset boasts a 16MP selfie camera. The handset is fueled by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging. 

Redmi 11 Prime 5G

The Redmi 11 Prime 5G is the company’s first 5G-enabled handset under the Redmi number series and it also happens to be the cheapest 5G handset to date under the Redmi branding. The device flaunts a 6.58-inch Full HD+ display panel with a 2040 × 1080 pixel resolution, up to 90Hz refresh rate, a water drop notch, and Corning Gorilla Glass protection.

Powering the latest Redmi smartphone is an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor that brings with it an integrated Mali G57 GPU. Built on a 7nm fabrication process, the Dimensity 700 comes coupled with up to 6GB LPDRR4X RAM and up to 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. The handset boots MIUI 13, which is based on Android 12.

On the optics front, the 5G variant of the Redmi 11 Prime offers a dual-rear camera setup that includes a 50MP primary shooter. The high-resolution sensor on the device gets accompanied by a 2MP depth shooter and an LED flash. The smartphone features an 8MP shooter for selfies and video calls.

The Redmi 11 Prime 5G comes equipped with a 5000mAh battery unit. The handset supports 18W fast charging.

Infinix Note 12 5G

The Infinix Note 12 5G is the only segment in the phone that features an AMOLED display. It features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ display with a standard 60Hz refresh rate. Powering the Infinix Note 12 5G is an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 810 processor. The device boots the company’s own XOS 10.6, based on Android 12. The Infinix Note 12 5G comes equipped with a 5000mAh battery unit and 33W fast charging. 

For photography, the Infinix Note 12 offers a triple-rear camera setup including a 50MP primary shooter that is accompanied with a 2MP depth sensor and an AI lens. The smartphone packs a 16MP front shooter with dual LED flash.
