Highlights
  • BGMI 3.1 update requires upgrading devices from Android 4.4 or iOS 10 (delaying update).
  • The update brings the Arabian Nights theme, a new map section, and more.

Attention BGMI players! As of the upcoming BGMI 3.1 update, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) will no longer support Android 4.4 or iOS 10 or below devices. Krafton has announced this change as part of a helpshift update before the 3.1 update release.

This decision by Krafton aims to improve the overall gaming experience through an upgraded Helpshift system for better customer support. After the BGMI 3.1 update release, players can not play Battlegrounds Mobile India on phones running the older version of Android or iOS, which is mentioned above. To continue enjoying BGMI, you must upgrade your device to a newer operating system.

The 3.1 Update has also been delayed with an undisclosed release date. Krafton apologized for the inconvenience.

While the announcement mentions the Helpshift upgrade as the reason for dropping support, it’s important to understand the bigger picture. Newer Android and iOS versions offer many advantages over older ones. These include better performance, improved security, and increased compatibility with modern games. By ending support for older operating systems, Krafton can focus on optimizing the game for most players and ensure a smoother gameplay experience.

Of course, most BGMI players are likely already using devices that support the upgraded Helpshift. One needs a newer device to handle a game as intensive as BGMI. Furthermore, most users naturally upgrade their phones over time. Therefore, the number of players affected by the end of support for older operating systems is likely to be minimal.

BGMI 3.1 Update

The highly anticipated BGMI 3.1 update brings an Arabian Nights-themed mode with stunning visuals and a new map section. Players can also expect exciting new features like the upgraded P90 weapon found in Air Drops, the A6 Royale Pass with a new female outfit, and Nimbus Island, a new point of interest filled with loot.

Flying ships offer aerial platforms for strategic gameplay, while Night Mode on Erangel adds a thrilling layer of darkness and tactical challenges. The update even introduces a flying carpet vehicle for two players to explore the new environment.

According to some reports, the new update will be released next Wednesday, March 27.
