The top 50 AI tools generated a total of 24 billion visits in a one-year period from September 2022 to August 2023, with ChatGPT alone accounting for a whopping 14.6 billion traffic. This means ChatGPT accounted for 60 percent of the total traffic generated by the top 50 AI tools in a little less than a year, given it was launched in November 2022. It recorded an average of 1.5 billion visits per month.
This research was revealed by Writerbuddy.ai, which used the SEMrush tool to analyse traffic patterns in the AI industry. ChatGPT, which is a generative AI chatbot developed by OpenAI, was followed by Character AI, which is also an AI chatbot with 3.8 billion visits in the one-year period.
On the third spot was QuillBot AI, which is an AI writing tool with 1.1 billion total visits from September 2022 to August 2023. Another popular AI chatbot Google Bard made it to the top 50 list as well, though the traffic generated was significantly less at around 241 million in a seven-month period. The AI tool took the sixth spot.
ChatGPT Is The Most Visited AI Tool In One Year Period
ChatGPT was the most visited AI tool with a total of 14.6 billion visits over a ten-month period. It was followed by Character AI with 3.8 billion visits. The tool generated an average of 318.8 million visits monthly. The third and the fourth spots were taken by Quillbot and MidJourney with a total of 1.1. billion and 500.4 million visits respectively.
Hugging Face data science AI tool was fifth with a total of 316.6 million visits. Notably, the total visits generated by Character AI, Quillbot, MidJourney, and Hugging Face were considered for a one-year period from September 2022 to August 2023.
Google’s Bard, Novel AI, Capcut, Janitor AI, and Civit AI were also on the list of top ten AI tools. The tools generated 241.6 million, 238.7 million, 203.8 million, 192.4 million, and 177.2 million total visits respectively. However, the time period for which the data was collected for these tools varied from four to twelve months, since a lot of these tools were launched quite recently.
India Had The Second Largest AI Users
The analysis also pointed out that the most popular AI tools were the chatbot tools, which attracted 19.1 billion visits in one year. The 50 most visited AI tools attracted more than 24 billion visits globally.
When it comes to the top countries with the most AI users, India took the second spot with 2.1 billion users. The most traffic on AI tools came from the United States, which had close to 5.5 billion AI users. Indonesia ranked third with 1.4 billion users. Meanwhile, the European countries together were responsible for a total of 3.9 billion visits.
Thanks to ChatGPT, which reached one million users within just five days of its launch, the AI industry saw its most significant growth over the last 12 months. The total traffic generated by the top 50 AI tools grew at a rate of 10.7x over the one-year period. A significant 2.8 billion visits were generated during the month of August 2023, which is a 2.6 billion increase in traffic from September 2022 to August 2023.
