Discord and Xbox announced this particular partnership a while back and now, Discord Voice will be available on the consoles. This will essentially allow players to chat with their Discord friends through the console itself – without requiring any additional hardware or interface.

This is really exciting for fans as this removes the barrier between consoles and Discord – allowing seamless connection of friends from across platforms. Discord has also announced cross-platform voice chat, which could eventually let Xbox players chat with PlayStation players as SIE also announced a partnership with Discord earlier this year.

Xbox Insiders will have early access to the cross-platform voice chat and it will be interesting to see if Sony plays ball and allows cross-platform chat with players from other platforms.

Xbox-Discord-PC-Mobile Cross-Platform Voice Chat Could be a Game Changer

How the new Voice Chat works players can now join voice chat with their friends on Discord through the Series/S and One consoles using the Xbox Mobile App. Additionally, cross-platform integration will be coming to Discord Voice soon enough, allowing players to connect with players on both console and PC through Voice Chat.

This will effectively connect Xbox players with PC, console, and Mobile in one voice chat. The Insiders Program from Xbox will allow early access to this feature. Cross-platform games such as Halo Infinite and Minecraft can be enjoyed seamlessly by players across different platforms.

It will be interesting to see if Sony’s consoles will also be part of the mix, and if they are, this could be a major turning point for console inclusivity. PlayStation also announced a Discord integration earlier this year although it has not been confirmed whether it will be part of this new cross-platform feature.
