The ASUS ROG Ally X has leaked once again but this time, a VideoCardz report has shared a detailed look at hardware and design changes. The upcoming gaming handheld refresh may offer twice the battery capacity, faster RAM, and two USB-C ports, and more. Check out the details.
ASUS ROG Ally X: Expected Specs
One of the biggest complaints about the ASUS ROG Ally has been its poor battery life. This is what we talked about in our review as well. The report says the ROG Ally X will get an 80Wh battery, a 100% jump over the 40Wh battery available on the current-gen gaming handheld.
The ROG Ally X is expected to come with 24GB LPDDR5X 7500MHz RAM. This is a significant improvement over the 16GB LPDDR5 6400MHz RAM on the ROG Ally. This means gamers will get more and faster RAM. We can expect the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU.
The ROG Ally X is said to come with two USB-C ports. The current version has only one. It will include a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C and USB 4 Type-C port. The newly added port will also support PowerDelivery 3.0 and DisplayPort 1.4.
The ROG Ally X is expected to get a 7-inch Full HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The report claims ROG Ally X will be 70 grams heavier and nearly 5 mm thicker at 36.9 mm. There will be a new D-pad referred to as Precision D-Pad, which would be rated for 5 million cycles. ASUS is also reported to have made improvements to the cooling design. The fan is said to deliver 10% more airflow despite having a 23% smaller fan with 50% thinner fins.
ASUS ROG Ally X Launch and Price
The ASUS ROG Ally X is confirmed to launch on June 2. The pricing details are unknown but rumours hint at a $799 price tag. If true, this would make it USD 100 more expensive than the ROG Ally.
