Meta Testing Generative Experiences Across Instagram

Instagram’s parent company Meta is working on a generative AI model and experiences for the platform. The company said in a blog post that it is testing over 20 generative AI experiences across WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger.

The experiences are limited to the United States as of now but are expected to expand to other regions worldwide gradually.

For starters, an evolved version of the Reimagine tool is available for Instagram and Messenger users. Reimagine can be used to generate an image with a prompt in a group chat. Other members can then press and hold the image to add their prompts to get a different version of the same image. The feature is aimed at adding an element of fun to conversations and making them more engaging.

Meta is integrating AI into Instagram Reels as well. Users can give prompts to see relevant Reels. The aim is to give users access to ideas and inspiration across the platform related to a topic they want. This can be useful when for instance, planning a trip, preparing a dish, etc. So users can see Reels about places instead of just reading what the AI has to offer.

Apart from this, Meta is also working on the ability to share a WhatsApp Status to Instagram Stories directly from within the messaging app.
