WhatsApp is back with another feature update. The messaging platform is rolling out a new feature that allows you to have longer voice notes as a status update. Here’s everything you need to know about:

WhatsApp Longer Voice Message Status Update

According to the WABetaInfo report, the new update allows you to share voice notes up to one minute in length, which is an improvement from the previous limit of 30 seconds. This will facilitate the communication of more detailed thoughts and stories without interruption.

Thankfully, the update is rolling out to both Android and iOS users. We were able to use the feature on our iOS device. You can update the WhatsApp app on Android or iOS to receive this update. If you haven’t received the update yet, don’t worry—WhatsApp will gradually roll out this feature, and you should receive it within a few days.

As per the screenshot shared in the report, this new feature will also work similarly to sending or recording voice notes. You can hold the mic button to start recording and slide to cancel the note, just like we do with personal voice notes.

Other Upcoming Updates

Another intriguing report from the same publication recently stated that profile pictures on WhatsApp are set for a major revamp. It is said WhatsApp is working on a feature, which will allow users to set an AI-generated profile picture using a prompt within the app.

Furthermore, the popular messaging app is also developing a feature allowing users to share status updates with only a specific group of people, similar to Instagram’s Close Friends feature. It remains to be seen when these features will roll out for all.
