Lenovo Working On Legion Go Handheld Gaming Console To Rival Steam Deck And ROG Ally

Handheld gaming devices seem to be the latest point of interest among tech companies that deal in the gaming space. This is largely due to the success of the Steam Deck by Valve and the most recent release Asus ROG Ally. Lenovo is now said to be ready with its second attempt in the market after it ended up cancelling plans for the first one (pictured above). The under-development product is called Legion Go and here is everything we know.

Lenovo Legion Go Gaming Handheld Specifications (Rumoured)

A fresh Windows Central report has cited anonymous sources to claim Lenovo is busy working on a new gaming handheld device Legion Go. This new device will run Windows 11 operating system much like the popular releases Steam Deck and ROG Ally. This is not surprising as Windows is where the majority of the popular AAA gaming titles are at.

The rumoured Lenovo Legion Go could arrive with an 8-inch display. This would make it bigger than the aforementioned handheld gaming devices which offer a 7-inch display. Unfortunately, the report does not offer details about the display resolution and refresh rate. However, it should be at least a Full HD (1080p) panel.

One of the crucial aspects of any gaming device is its power and performance. The Legion Go is said to come with AMD Phoenix processors that debuted earlier this year. There are currently no words on the Legion Go pricing and availability details. It is also not confirmed if Lenovo will actually launch the rumoured gaming handheld.

This is not the first time we have heard about Lenovo’s plans for a handheld gaming console. It was rumoured to be working on a device called Legion Play in 2021 but it was eventually cancelled. It would have been an Android-powered gaming console if it had gone official. There would have been a 7-inch Full HD display with HDR10 support. Other noteworthy features would have been a 7,000mAh battery, dual speakers, dual vibration, and built-in controllers.

In the context of the Indian handheld gaming market, Valve’s Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch are not available here officially but imported units are sold instead. Asus’ ROG Ally launched in India just last month and costs Rs 69,990. It is a device powered by AMD’s Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, AMD Radeon Navi3 graphics, 16GB LPDDR5 RAM, 512GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD storage, and a UHS-II microSD card reader.
