Update (24/06/2020, 12:00 PM IST):
The Galaxy Z Flip 5G has now been certified through Wi-Fi Alliance. We have come across six certifications of the device, each for a different model of the phone. The models for which we have found the certifications are SM-F707U1, SM-F707B, SM-F707U, SM-F7070, SM-F707W, and SM-F707N. The certifications reveal the Galaxy Z Flip 5G will have dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (ax) with 2×2 MU-MIMO.
The original story follows…
Samsung had launched the Galaxy Z Flip earlier this year. While the brand had managed to pack the phone with flagship-grade features in spite of its foldable design, the device, unfortunately, misses out on 5G connectivity. Samsung is said to fix that with the launch of a 5G version of the Galaxy Z Flip. While this upcoming smartphone has been speculated to be named the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, we did not have any confirmation. Well, the 5G version of the Galaxy Z Flip has now been certified through Bluetooth SIG, which, fortunately for us, confirms the name of the device.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G (Bloom X) gets Bluetooth SIG certification
From the earlier leaks of the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, we know that the main part of the model number of the smartphone is SM-F707.
The models that have been certified through Bluetooth SIG today are the SM-F707U, SM-F707W, SM-F707U1, SM-F7070, SM-F707N, SM-F707_SPR. These could be different variants of the device for various memory configurations, colors, or regions.
The Bluetooth SIG listing reveals that the retail name of the phone is Galaxy Z Flip 5G, just like everyone was expecting. One of the certifications, however, says that the product name is Blooom-X but that is most probably the phone’s codename.
The Bluetooth SIG listing also confirms that the smartphone has Bluetooth v5.0 connectivity but that doesn’t come as a surprise.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G gets NFC certification
The Galaxy Z Flip 5G has bagged one more certification today, and this one from the NFC Forum. The model that has been certified through NFC Forum is SM-F707U. The NFC Forum certification confirms that the Galaxy Z Flip 5G will have NFC connectivity, just like the 4G version of the Galaxy Z Flip.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5G is said to retain the specifications of the Galaxy Z Flip, except for the chipset, which is said to be the Snapdragon 865. The Galaxy Z Flip 5G has recently been certified through 3C, revealing that the phone will have 25W wired and 15W wireless fast charging. The phone has been certified through Geekbench as well, revealing that it will have 8GB of RAM.
