Google has confirmed the launch of the Pixel 5a later this year. The launch date remains unknown. However, we can expect the device to launch at the Google I/O in May. The only piece of information confirmed by the company around the Pixel 5a is its availability details. Google said that the upcoming A-series smartphone will launch only in the US and Japan. It did not confirm any features or specs of the device. However, the rumour mill has churned out some key details of the budget Pixel. Google Pixel 5a leaked specifications reveal key performance unit details

Google Pixel 5a is slated to launch later this year. Leaked specs suggest that the phone will be very similar to the Pixel 5.

The latest Android 12 Developer 3 preview hints that the 5a will feature a Snapdragon 765G SoC, 9to5Google reported. The developer preview has references to the device codenamed “Barbet”, which is the Pixel 5a. Alongside the model number is the mention of another codename “SM7250”, which is the Snapdragon 765G SoC found on the Pixel 4a 5G and the Pixel 5.

Design renders of the upcoming Google smartphone have leaked in the past. These renders suggest that the Pixel 5a will come with some minor upgrades over the Pixel 4a. The device will come with a dual-camera setup on the back. It will have a 12MP primary camera sensor. The phone could feature the same 16MP ultrawide camera found on the Pixel 4a 5G. The render images also show a third cutout, which is likely to be a PDAF sensor.

At the front, the phone will have a 6.2-inch Full HD+ display. The screen will be an OLED have thin bezels around it. The phone will also have a hole-punch cutout on the top-left corner of the display. Much like the Pixel 4a, the 5a will have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Lastly, the phone will have a 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers.
