The Motorola One Power made its debut at IFA 2018 in Berlin this year, alongside the Motorola One. While the Motorola One is available in various markets, the Motorola One Power is designed specifically for the Indian market. It was launched in the country a few weeks after its global unveiling in Berlin. Unlike some other Motorola smartphones launched in India this year, the One Power is priced quite sensibly and happens to be among the most impressive budget Android smartphones available currently. At the time of its launch, Motorola had promised that the One Power would be updated to Android Pie before the end of year. A Motorola One Power running on the latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system was caught on Geekbench today, suggesting the Android Pie update may begin rolling out very soon.

Motorola One Power Running Android Pie Appears on Geekbench, Update Imminent?

The latest Motorola One Power (review) Geekbench listing tells us that Motorola is currently testing the Pie update for the smartphone. Motorola had announced in September that it would release the Android Pie beta for Motorola One Power by mid-October. Sadly, no beta update for the smartphone has been rolled out yet. While the beta roll-out may not have gone as planned, we expect the stable update for the smartphone to be rolled out before the end of the year.

The Motorola One Power running on Android Pie managed a single-core score of 1,274 points and a multi-core score of 4,508 points on Geekbench. Both the scores are slightly lower than the average scores achieved by the smartphone on Android 8.1 Oreo. On Android 8.1 Oreo, Motorola One Power scores around 1,330 points in the single-core test and 4.900 points in the multi-core test. The lower benchmark scores suggest Motorola’s software team will need to spend some more time optimizing the Pie build for the Motorola One Power.

Motorola One Power Android 9 Pie Update Will Bring Dual 4G VoLTE Support

The Motorola One Power Android 9.0 Pie update is expected to add one key feature to the smartphone – Dual 4G VoLTE support. While not every budget Android smartphone supports this feature, it is a useful feature as it lets users connect to access 4G LTE connectivity on both SIM cards. Additionally, the feature also allows for voice calling over LTE with the secondary SIM. If you only use a single SIM card on your phone, Dual 4G VoLTE will not make any difference for you. However, if you use a Reliance Jio SIM card, the addition of Dual 4G VoLTE will mean you will not lose 4G LTE connectivity on your Jio SIM when you enable 4G LTE on your other SIM.

Apart from Dual 4G VoLTE, the Android 9.0 update for the Motorola One Power will bring all the key Pie features like adaptive brightness, adaptive battery, app actions, an improved Do Not Disturb mode, revamped split-screen, improved security features, redesigned Quick Settings, simplified volume controls, more colorful settings menu, and an easier way to manage your notifications. Since it is an Android One smartphone, the Motorola One Power will receive the Android Q update as well. In addition to two major OS upgrades, the Motorola One Power is guaranteed to receive security updates for up to three years.
