Now, it seems the testing phase is over, and the company has started pushing the stable Nothing OS 2.5 update based on Android 14 for the Nothing Phone (1) users. The company yesterday took to X (formerly Twitter) and its community forum to confirm the release of a stable Android 14 update for the Nothing Phone (1). Let us take a look ahead as to what Nothing OS 2.5 brings to the table:

The newly released Nothing OS 2.5 software update brings in a new redesign to the home screen and lock screen. Furthermore, the software update also adds new Glyph animation when NFC is being used. It also adds new shortcuts to the lock screen, a new screenshot editor, a media player widget, a screen time widget, and a Pedometer widget. The stable Android 14 update also enhances the system’s stability and improves battery life. Here’s the full changelog of the new software release:

  • Customisable double-press power button to quickly access a chosen feature. Just head to Settings > System > Gestures.
  • More Lock Screen shortcut options like Do Not Disturb, mute, QR code scanner, and video camera.
  • Capture screenshots quickly with a three-finger swipe gesture.
  • New screenshot editor and menu, allowing for more advanced editing features and quick deletions.
  • Refreshed the back gesture arrow visual to be more in line with Nothing’s style.
  • Added support for switching ring modes in Quick Settings.
  • You can now directly set your network via Quick Settings without unlocking the device.
