OnePlus 11 5G to be Powered By Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, Other Specifications Leaked

Qualcomm has launched its new flagship mobile platform, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The new flagship Qualcomm mobile SoC is the world’s first 5G AI mobile platform to support Wi-Fi 7 and hardware ray-tracing. The new 4nm Snapdragon processor is claimed to offer up to 35 per cent higher performance and 40 per cent power efficiency. Phones with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC will debut by the end of 2022. OnePlus has confirmed that its new OnePlus 11 5G flagship smartphone will feature the new Qualcomm mobile platform.

OnePlus 11 5G to Feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

OnePlus 11 5G is confirmed to get Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The exact launch date of the device is unknown. Before announcing the launch date, OnePlus confirmed that it will be among the first few smartphone OEMs to launch a flagship phone with the new Qualcomm SoC. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC is built on TSMC’s 4nm process and has a peak clock speed of 3.2GHz. While the clock speeds are the same as on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, Qualcomm has changed the core composition of its new SoC. 

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC has a new Cortex-X3 Prime Core along with four performance cores and three efficiency cores. Qualcomm claims that the new Adreno 740 GPU promises to offer up to 25 per cent better performance and up to 45 per cent improved power efficiency.

While confirming the use of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, OnePlus did not reveal any other specifications of the upcoming flagship smartphone. Recently, a tipster revealed that the OnePlus 11 Pro will launch as the OnePlus 11.

The design renders of the upcoming flagship from OnePlus have leaked as well. The camera module blends into the frame, which is likely made of metal. It will house a triple-camera setup and an LED flash. The phone will sport a curved display with a hole-punch cutout at the top left corner.

According to reports, the OnePlus 11 5G will feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a QHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate support. The phone is also said to come with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

There will be a new 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera sensor along with a 48MP ultra-wide angle lens and a 32MP telephoto sensor. For selfies, there will be a 32MP front camera. The device is also said to pack a 5000mAh battery with 100W fast charging support. As expected, we can expect the phone to feature Android 13-based OxygenOS 13 out of the box.
