Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi had launched the entry-level Redmi Go Android smartphone in the Indian market in March this year. The company has now introduced a higher storage variant of the affordable Android Go smartphone in India. Targeted at first time smartphone buyers, the Redmi Go starts at just INR 4,499 in the country.

Redmi Go 16GB Storage Variant Priced at INR 4,799 in India

The new Redmi Go variant comes with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Apart from featuring twice as much internal storage, the new variant is identical to the 8GB variant launched in March. Available in Black and Blue color options, the Redmi Go 1GB RAM + 16GB storage variant has been priced at INR 4,799. Unless you plan to use just a few basic apps on the phone, the 16GB variant is a no-brainer as it only costs INR 300 more than the 8GB version. It is now available for purchase via the Mi online store, Flipkart, as well as Mi Home stores.

On the Mi online store, you can avail 3-month EMI with Zest money at no additional cost. In addition to the EMI option, Jio subscribers can avail INR 2,200 cashback and additional 100GB data free on purchasing the Redmi Go. Flipkart, on the other hand, is offering a 5% instant discount on EMI transactions made using Axis Bank credit or debit cards.

Redmi Go Features, Specifications

Redmi’s entry-level offering sports a relatively small 5.0-inch display with 720 x 1280 HD resolution, 296 PPI pixel density, and a reading mode. Running under its hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4 GHz with an Adreno 308 GPU clocked at 500 MHz. As mentioned above already, the Redmi Go now comes in two storage variants with 1GB RAM. Like other Android Go phones, you do get a microSD card slot on the Redmi Go, facilitating further expansion up to 128GB.

As you would expect from an entry-level device, the Redmi Go isn’t very impressive when it comes to optics. You get a single 8MP camera on the back of the phone, paired with an f/2.0 aperture. The rear camera supports up to 1080p Full HD video recording. As for selfies, you get a 5MP front-facing camera with an f/2.2 aperture lens and Beautify profiles. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS with A-GPS, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1, MicroUSB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone is fueled by a 3000mAh battery and supports 5W charging. On the software front, Redmi Go runs on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) currently.
