Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Battery Images Revealed:

The Safety Korea certification documents reveal the date of certification of the battery as April 9th. Furthermore, we can see that the Galaxy Watch 4’s battery is listed with model number EB-BR880ABY. This is the same battery model which had earlier gained the required 3C certification. As per the 3C listing, this is a 240mAh battery that will be used in the SM-R880 model. The SM-R880 model is believed to be a 41mm version of the Galaxy Watch 4.

Previous leaks suggest us that these upcoming smartwatches are codenamed internally as Wise and Fresh. Additionally, it was being reported that the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Active are in the pipeline which posses model number SM-R86x and SM-R87x. The Galaxy Watch 4 (Fresh) is reportedly coming in 41mm and 45mm sizes as reported by Android Police’s Max Weinbach a few days ago. Furthermore, the Galaxy Watch 4 Active is supposed to come in 40mm and 44mm size, which internally is codenamed as Wise. Both these smartwatches are reported to launch in Bluetooth and Cellular variants.

These upcoming smartwatches are supposed to run WearOS instead of the Tizen operating system. A new plugin with the codename ‘water’ was found in the APK teardown of the Galaxy Wearable app. The codename ‘water’ is believed to be as Samsung’s WearOS compatibility layer. The reference to “newos” was even found in the APK file as well. Apart from this, the APK file even had mention of the “merlot”, which is said to be the chipset for these upcoming smartwatches.

As far as the launch of the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Active go, they are expected to launch in Q2 2021. This is usually faster than the Q3 release time frame as Samsung had launched their smartwatches at the Galaxy Note series event in the past. This year, Samsung has already confirmed that it’s skipping the Galaxy Note series launch. Now that we are seeing the new Galaxy Watch 4 details each passing day, we can expect Samsung to officially announce the launch date of these smartwatches in the upcoming few weeks.
