Samsung recently refreshed its hardware lineup with the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Tab S9 tablet series, and Galaxy Watch 6 smartwatches. These devices come with various hardware upgrades but also have a bunch of new software features. The good thing is the company is finally bringing those new features to older-generation foldable, tablets, and smartwatches with One UI 5.1.1 and One UI 5 Watch updates.

One UI 5.1.1 Features and Eligible Devices

Samsung has included an improved Flex Mode user experience for Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 users with the new One UI 5.1.1 update. It is now easier than ever to show or hide the Flex Mode Panel, thanks to the panel’s icon floating up on the screen. The icon can also be dragged and dropped on the toolbar. The customizable panel will offer quick access to various settings like screen capture, touchpad, and Multi Window.

When using the Flex Mode Panel, users will get a new media play bar button with all the necessary functionalities. It will have 10-second fast-forward and rewind buttons and support for pressing down on the bar for scrubbing through the video.

The multitasking experience is also getting improvements in the new One UI version. Users will now be able to open Samsung Internet in a pop-up window even when the content continues to play. The browser app can be dragged to the edge of the display at any time and tapping the pop-up icon will bring it back. Moreover, pressing and holding on the top of the pop-up window will instantly switch it to the Multi-Window mode.

One important addition is two-handed drag and drop on the foldables and tablets. It will allow users to open an app with one hand and use the other hand to move a file, app icon, or another item into a target folder or file location. It is similar to the experience of moving files on a Windows PC.

Samsung says the One UI 5.1.1 update will first arrive for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 this month. It will then expand to the following devices:

One UI 5 Watch Features and Eligible Devices
