Vivo is gearing up for the launch of the S17 series in China. The company will launch its new S series phones on May 31 in its home country. Ahead of the official debut, Vivo has been teasing the key specs and features of the S17 series. The company is likely to launch multiple phones in the lineup. There will be the S17t, S17 and S17 Pro. A couple of days ahead of the launch, the vanilla model has been spotted on the Geekbench website.
The listing on Geekbench reveals the key specifications of the Vivo S17 5G. It looks like Vivo will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC in the S17. Let’s take a look at the key specifications, features and other details about the Vivo S17 known so far.
Vivo S17 Geekbench Listing Confirms Performance Unit Specifications
The Vivo S17 will be one of the three smartphones launching at the May 31 event in China. It has been spotted on Geekbench with the model number V2283A. According to the listing, the S17 5G has a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC codenamed Lahaina. The octa-core SoC has a peak clock speed of 2.52GHz. It also features three performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four efficiency cores clocked at 1.80GHz. The chipset also has an Adreno 642L GPU. Based on the details revealed via the Geekbench listing, it is safe to say that the S17 features a Snapdragon 778G+ SoC.
The variant of the S17 listed on Geekbench has 12GB of RAM. We can expect the device to launch with 256GB of storage at least. It is also confirmed to feature Android 13 out of the box, which is least expected from a phone launching in the second half of 2023. The S17 is likely to feature a layer of Origin OS 3 on top of Android.
In addition to the specs, the Geekbench listing also revealed some benchmark scores. The phone scored 817 and 2607 in Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core tests.
Vivo has teased some key camera details ahead of the launch. The company has also teased the design of the phone ahead of the launch. Based on the teased details, the S17 has a curved display with a hole-punch cutout at the top centre. The phone also features a rectangular camera module on the back with a dual-camera setup and a ring light-like LED flash module. On the front, there will be support for dual flash, which will be located on the top bezel on either side of the 50MP front camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The company has kept the specifications under wraps. However, thanks to some leaks, the key specs of the S17 5G have surfaced ahead of the launch.
