WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging apps in India, has been introducing many new features to enhance the user experience. Most of the new WhatsApp features are tested internally along with public beta testing with a small batch of registered users. WhatsApp beta users get early access to some of the features that the company might release in the future. One such feature being tested currently under beta is the ability to forward images, videos, GIFs, and documents with a caption.

WhatsApp currently allows users to forward media from one chat to another. Currently, users can forward messages and media to as many as five different individuals or group chats at a time. However, when forwarding media, the app does not forward the message that is attached to the file. This issue could be rectified in the coming weeks or months.

WhatsApp Beta New Feature

WhatsApp has released a new beta update as part of the Google Play Beta programme. The latest update has version number 2.22.23.15. The beta update introduces support for forwarding captions with media files. The media files include images, videos, GIFs, and documents.

The feature, spotted by WABetaInfo, has been made available for a certain number of beta users. A screenshot uploaded by the website shows when the feature is enabled, users will see a new message box at the bottom to add text or remove the caption by tapping the dismiss icon.

The report stated that the feature is not limited to images only but also to videos, documents, GIFs, etc. Also worth noting is that the WhatsApp feature is currently available for a limited number of beta users who have signed up on their Android devices. WABetaInfo expects the feature to be available for more beta users in the coming days. Meanwhile, it is advised to update the beta app to the latest version.

WhatsApp has been testing many other features under its beta programme. The company was recently spotted testing a feature that allows users to create avatars on WhatsApp. This feature was also spotted on the Android beta versions 2.22.23.8 and 2.22.23.9. The lucky set of beta users for whom the feature is available can go to Settings and tap on the “Avatar” tab to create one. Once users create their avatar, the app will automatically create a new sticker pack. Users can then use these stickers during their conversations on the platform.

WhatsApp has not revealed any details about the feature being available for all users. It is also unknown when the feature will be available for iOS beta users. Considering the features are being tested on Android devices, their iOS compatibility should be approved soon. We will share more details about the same as and when available.
