WhatsApp status is getting the much-needed feature through the latest beta for Android update. According to WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned messaging platform has submitted the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.26.3 update on Play Store. This update reveals that users will be able to post photos and videos on WhatsApp status in HD quality by preserving their original dimensions and resolution.

However, the publication mentions that the feature is currently under development and not ready for beta testers. But given it is under testing, we can expect the feature to roll out publicly very soon. Let’s take a look at the preview of HD WhatsApp status posted by the publication and other details.

WhatsApp Status Will Soon Get High-Definition Treatment

As you can see in the screenshot above, users will soon be able to post HD WhatsApp Status for their contacts. Notably, while WhatsApp has introduced HD media sharing in chat on Android and iOS platforms, the WhatsApp status was still compressing the media heavily. This means even if users were posting 4K or high-resolution pictures on their WhatsApp status, it appeared grainy and blurry to their contact list. While there is a workaround by saving high-resolution media in personal chat and forwarding it to status, it doesn’t always work.

This is about to change as WhatsApp is bringing native support to post HD media in WhatsApp status. When posting supported high-resolution media files to their WhatsApp status, users will see the same HD toggle on top as they do while sharing HD media.

Users will need to tap on the HD button and select high resolution to post. However, WABetaInfo notes that the feature is still under development and will be rolled out to beta testers and general users in the coming months.

WhatsApp recently rolled out the ability to send media files as documents to preserve the original quality. The feature was rolled out globally to everyone after being available to a small set of iOS users previously. Additionally, the messaging platform also improved the WhatsApp video call by adding the ability to share video and music audio. When users play music or video during screen sharing on a video call, the audio will be shared with all participants for an immersive experience.
