  • WhatsApp is testing a new sidebar to make navigation easier.
  • WhatsApp has also started getting Meta AI for some users.

Meta-owned WhatsApp has been testing design changes for Android and web users over the past few months. WABetaInfo has now spotted a new design for WhatsApp’s web version, which includes a new sidebar. Check out the details below.

WhatsApp Web Receives a Design Change

WhatsApp has rolled out a new sidebar with the WhatsApp Web beta 2.3000.1012734542 version number. The sidebar offers better navigation and access to the most important sections of the WhatsApp Web.

The new design element also offers users the ability to access the features in a more organised way. The sidebar will include Chats, Status, Channels, Communities and more.

For those unaware, the sidebar was initially spotted in the WhatsApp Web beta rolled out in September 2023. The new design element is limited to a small number of WhatsApp Web beta users. It remains to be seen when it will start rolling out for all but this should happen in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp has also started rolling out Meta AI to some beta users to compete with ChatGPT and even Google’s Bard.

There are other features in the works too; WhatsApp is testing the picture-in-picture mode to watch the videos shared directly with them in chats. The feature was spotted in the WhatsApp beta for iOS with the 24.7.10.73 version number. WhatsApp is also testing a feature that will prompt users to send messages to contacts they haven’t interacted with.
