As mentioned before, the noted Bloomberg analyst has already revealed details about the Apple Watch redesign in the past. Now, Gurman has shared more details about new health features to be expected on the upcoming Apple Watch. Gurman has not mentioned the Apple Watch Ultra, which means the redesign and new features will be restricted to the standard Apple Watch. The company has already launched the Watch Ultra 2 and it’s expected to receive the next big upgrade in 2026 with a Micro LED display.

According to Gurman, the standard Apple Watch is due for an upgrade and at least one model will come with a new design. More significantly, the company will introduce a couple of new health features, which will further elevate the benefits of owning an Apple Watch. Gurman claims that these features will be hypertension tracking and sleep apnea detection. According to Gurman, Apple will depend on the market play of “inventing the ability to take a blood pressure reading from the wrist.”

The tipster says that the next-generation Apple Watch will be able to detect the signs of hypertension or sleep apnea and warn the user to get tested. For the uninitiated, hypertension refers to high blood pressure, which could lead to serious heart disease. On the other hand, sleep apnea is a serious sleeping disorder that causes breathing to repeatedly stop and start while the user is sleeping.

Both these diseases can be lifelong and require medical assistance. By including the detection of these illnesses, Apple is ensuring that the next-generation watch will be the biggest upgrade so far. There were talks of blood sugar monitoring coming to the Apple Watch, however, Gurman has not mentioned it in the latest newsletter.

As for the new design, Apple is said to be replacing the current lug and release button clasp system with a new magnetic clasp mechanism. It will not only make it easier to swap bands but also make the Apple Watch thinner than ever.
