BSH Enters India’s Air Fryer Market With Bosch CrispMaxx

BSH Home Appliances, the Indian arm of German appliance maker BSH Hausgeräte GmbH, has entered the country's air fryer market with the launch of Bosch CrispMaxx. Available in 4-litre (Serie 2) and 7.2-litre (Serie 6) models, the appliance is the company's first step into compact healthy cooking products in India.

The launch comes ahead of the festive season, a period when demand for kitchen appliances typically rises. It also signals how global majors are seeking to tap into India's growing appetite for guilt-free indulgence at home. Air fryers have moved from being a niche gadget to a mainstream kitchen choice, driven by health awareness and a shift towards faster, more versatile cooking.

BSH says the CrispMaxx can deliver the crunch of traditional fried snacks with up to 95 percent less oil. The company cites third-party testing by a NABL-certified lab, where 80 percent of participants found the food tasty and 79 percent said it matched expectations for crispiness.

The Serie 6 variant includes a see-through glass window, internal lighting, a dishwasher-safe basket, and a "shake reminder" that prompts users to turn food for even results. Both versions offer six preset programs, including air fry, bake, roast, broil, grill, and bacon, as well as touchscreen controls. The company also claims the fryer can prepare up to three portions at once, with options for preheating, cooking, and keeping meals warm.

On Amazon, the CrispMaxx is listed at around ₹7,699 for the 4-litre model and ₹10,850 for the 7.2-litre variant,

Air Fryer Market in India

India's air fryer market has grown rapidly in the last five years, with brands such as Philips, Inalsa, and Pigeon building strong positions. Demand is strongest among urban households that enjoy fried snacks but want healthier cooking methods. Price sensitivity remains high, although premium models with larger capacities are finding takers among families.

With CrispMaxx the company is trying to leverage brand equity in built-in kitchens and large appliances while testing consumer response in the small appliance category. The company's global positioning around quality and engineering is expected to appeal to buyers willing to pay more for perceived reliability.

For consumers, the decision will rest on weighing its engineering claims and premium design against lower-priced competitors that already dominate the market. Buyers looking for a large-capacity air fryer with multiple functions may find the CrispMaxx attractive, but those prioritising affordability will have other established options.

BSH's entry highlights how far the air fryer has travelled from novelty to mainstream. The company's decision to launch during the festive season reflects confidence that Indian households are ready to embrace premium compact appliances alongside traditional big-ticket categories like refrigerators and washing machines.
