Dyson has announced the launch of the Airwrap Origin in India, bringing back the original Airwrap concept in a more streamlined and accessible format. Priced at ₹39,900, the Airwrap Origin is positioned as a simplified entry point into Dyson's premium hair-styling portfolio, retaining the brand's core Coanda airflow technology while trimming down the number of attachments.
The Airwrap was the first multi-styler to use Coanda airflow, allowing hair to be styled using controlled air rather than extreme heat. With the Origin variant, Dyson appears to be targeting users who want the core Airwrap experience without the complexity or higher price of its newer, multi-attachment kits.
Core technology remains unchanged
At the heart of the Airwrap Origin is Dyson's Digital Motor V9, which spins at up to 110,000rpm. The motor generates the precise air pressure required to create the Coanda effect, enabling hair to wrap around the barrel for curling, smoothing, and shaping.
Dyson has also retained its intelligent heat-control system, which measures airflow temperature over 40 times per second to ensure it stays below 150°C. This approach is designed to minimise heat damage while maintaining hair shine. Users get three airflow speeds, three heat settings, and a cold-shot mode to help set styles.
Unlike current Airwrap Complete variants, the Airwrap Origin ships with three attachments. The Fast Dryer attachment is designed for quick drying and pre-styling. The 40mm barrel uses Coanda airflow to create loose curls and waves, while the Anti-Snag Loop Brush is aimed at smoother, more aligned finishes, with looped bristles designed to reduce pulling and snagging across hair types.
This reduced set clearly prioritises everyday blow-drying and loose styling rather than offering a full salon-style toolkit.
Pricing, availability, and who it's for
The Dyson Airwrap Origin is priced at ₹39,900 and will be available in a Nickel and Copper colourway through Dyson stores across India and the company's official website.
In the current Indian market, where premium hair-styling tools are seeing steady demand but price sensitivity remains high, the Airwrap Origin fills a gap between entry-level stylers and Dyson's more expensive Airwrap Complete kits. For users who primarily want Dyson's heat-safe styling tech without paying for multiple specialised attachments, the Origin offers a more focused and potentially better-value option.
