Milagrow, India's homegrown consumer robotics brand, has introduced two portable vacuum cleaners under its new Duster Series, strengthening its presence in the small appliance market. The company, known largely for robotic floor cleaners, is now broadening its reach to handheld solutions aimed at quick and targeted cleaning. The portable vacuum segment in India remains underdeveloped, with only a handful of players such as Eureka Forbes, Dyson, and Philips offering models, and Milagrow is looking to capitalise on the gap. In that, too, only Eureka Forbes has models that are priced under Rs 5,000. Dyson is positioned in the premium segment, so for people looking for a cost-effective alternative, the notable options are limited.
The Duster Gold and Duster Lux

The Milagrow Duster Gold is the more accessible of the two, powered by an 80W motor with 6500 Pa suction and a 4000mAh battery that delivers up to 27 minutes of cleaning. It weighs just 400 grams, features a washable HEPA-12 filter, and is designed for delicate jobs such as laptop keyboards, game consoles, and car vents. The Milagrow Duster Lux takes a step up with 14,000 Pa suction powered by a BLDC motor, a larger 6000mAh battery offering 34 minutes of runtime, and quieter operation at just 40 dB. It also charges faster over USB Type-C and uses a stainless-steel-protected HEPA-13 filter capable of trapping particles as fine as 0.05 microns. Both products are available on Milagrow's website and Amazon India, priced at ₹1,899 for the Duster Gold and ₹2,999 for the Duster Lux, with a one-year standard warranty.
Timing Matters
The launch of these Milagrow portable cleaners comes at a time when Indian consumers are rethinking their cleaning habits. Compact urban living, rising pet ownership, and greater awareness of dust allergies are pushing demand for smaller, versatile devices that can go where traditional bulky vacuums or brooms cannot. Portable models are also emerging as a complement to robotic vacuum cleaners. While RVCs are designed to cover floor cleaning autonomously, handheld units like Milagrow's new Duster series focus on car interiors, sofas, windowsills, gadget crevices, and other tight spots that even robots cannot reach.

Globally, handheld vacuums have moved from being niche gadgets to mainstream cleaning tools, driven by brands like Dyson in Europe and the US and Xiaomi in China. Consumers in these markets view handhelds as necessary companions to full-sized vacuums or robots, filling in the gaps where larger machines fall short. India is yet to see the same level of adoption, largely because of entrenched broom-and-mop habits and limited product availability. However, as awareness of indoor air quality grows and lifestyles get busier, demand for compact and easy-to-store gadgets is expected to follow a similar trajectory. Milagrow's entry into this category reflects a bet that Indian consumers will begin to treat portable vacuums as essential, not optional.
Milagrow Duster Lux vs Milagrow Duster Gold
For buyers, the decision comes down to use cases. The Gold is better suited for light, everyday dusting and portability, while the Lux justifies its higher price with stronger suction, quieter operation, and bundled accessories for more demanding cleaning. Neither is meant to replace a full-fledged home vacuum, but as secondary tools for maintaining cleanliness in cars, compact homes, or work-from-home setups, both fit well into modern lifestyles. With very few brands addressing this category, Milagrow's push signals that portable vacuums could soon gain traction as everyday essentials alongside robotic cleaners.
