Nester has launched the Home Cook 6.2L Glass Air Fryer in India. The new model uses a transparent borosilicate glass bowl instead of a conventional opaque basket and introduces the company’s SteamLock feature, which is claimed to prevent food from drying out while cooking.
The air fryer also comes with an acacia wood lid that allows the glass bowl to double as a serving and storage container.
Price and Availability
The Nester Home Cook 6.2L Glass Air Fryer is priced at Rs 16,999. It is available through Nester’s official website, Amazon and Flipkart.
Nester is offering a three-year “VIP Warranty” along with pan-India service support. The company has not detailed what additional coverage or benefits are included under the VIP warranty.
What Nester Says About Its SteamLock Feature
SteamLock is Nester’s name for the moisture-retention feature used in the Home Cook Air Fryer. The company claims it helps prevent food from becoming excessively dry, allowing it to remain tender inside while developing a crisp exterior.
However, Nester has not explained how the feature works or whether it involves active steam injection, a separate water reservoir or another method of retaining moisture. Its advantage over a conventional air fryer will therefore need to be verified through real-world cooking tests.
Nester also calls the product India’s first 6.2-litre air fryer with SteamLock technology. Since SteamLock is the company’s proprietary term, this claim refers specifically to Nester’s feature and should not be interpreted as meaning that it is India’s first 6.2-litre glass air fryer.
Glass Bowl Lets Users Monitor Cooking
The 6.2-litre borosilicate glass bowl lets users watch food cook without repeatedly opening the appliance. This could make it easier to check browning and prevent overcooking, particularly when trying a recipe for the first time.
Nester has designed the bowl around a “cook, serve and store” concept. Once cooking is complete, the bowl can be taken to the dining table and later covered using the accompanying acacia wood lid before being placed in the refrigerator. Side handles are included to make the bowl easier to lift and carry.
While glass improves cooking visibility, it can also be heavier and requires more careful handling. Buyers should check the bowl’s weight and replacement cost, details that Nester has not shared in the announcement.
A 30-Second Cleaning Cycle Is Also Included
The Home Cook Air Fryer features a 30-second auto-clean function that sprays water inside the appliance to loosen food residue. The feature should make post-cooking cleanup easier, although it is unlikely to completely replace manual washing after cooking oily or heavily marinated foods.
Nester has not disclosed the air fryer’s wattage, cooking temperature range, preset programmes or whether the glass bowl and other removable components are dishwasher-safe.
The Design Is a Big Part of the Pitch
At Rs 16,999, the Home Cook is being positioned around design and multipurpose usability rather than just cooking capacity. The transparent bowl, wooden storage lid and SteamLock feature help it stand apart from standard basket-style air fryers, while the three-year warranty adds some reassurance for a relatively new appliance brand.
Nester is not alone in taking this approach. Nuuk also positions itself as a design-first home-appliance brand and has placed a similar emphasis on appearance across products such as the BRĪSK air fryer. The growing focus on design suggests that newer appliance brands are trying to make products such as air fryers a visible part of the kitchen rather than treating them purely as functional devices.
Prospective buyers should still consider everyday performance alongside appearance. Heating power, temperature controls, bowl weight, availability of replacement parts and exact warranty coverage are all worth checking before purchase. The practical advantage of SteamLock over a regular glass-bowl air fryer will also become clear only after the appliance is tested.
