Amazon has officially released the Prime Lite membership plan in India. It is a new cheaper membership with special benefits for customers. The membership was first made available to select users earlier this year but is now available for purchase for everyone. Here is everything you need to know about the new plan.
Amazon Prime Lite Membership Plan Pricing
Amazon has priced the Prime Lite membership at Rs 999 for the annual plan. There are no monthly or quarterly plans available as of now. The pricing is significantly cheaper than the Rs 1499 per year for the Prime membership. However, there are slight differences in the benefits to justify the price difference.
Amazon Prime Lite Membership Benefits
All Prime Lite membership users will get free two-day delivery and standard delivery. There will be free no-rush shipping to eligible addresses and a cashback of Rs 25. Amazon is further offering Morning Delivery to eligible addresses at Rs 175 per item. There is no minimum order value for the free standard delivery.
If you have an Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card, you are eligible to receive 5% cashback on all purchases. However, digital and gift card purchases are exempted as they already 2% cashback in addition to rewards everywhere else you shop. Shoppers will also get early access to Lightning deals, exclusive Lightning deals, and Deal of the Day for Prime members.
Prime Lite membership also offers unlimited access to the Prime Video streaming service. The only catch is that you can use it on up to two devices and stream your favourite movies, TV shows, and live sports in High Definition (HD) quality but with ads.
Amazon Prime Lite vs Amazon Prime: What is the difference?
In comparison to Prime membership, there are a few perks missing in the Prime Lite plan. The first one is faster delivery benefits like one-day delivery, scheduled delivery, and same-day delivery. You get Morning Delivery on items priced as low as Rs 50.
Prime Lite does not offer access to Prime Reading and Amazon Music streaming services. The former is a service that offers access to eBooks and comics across multiple genres and languages. Prime Video access on Prime comes with up to 4K streaming, support for more devices, and no ads in between. Prime members further get access to No Cost EMI, a 6-month free screen replacement by Acko at no extra cost, special gaming offers, and special family offers.
