Google is expected to launch the Pixel 6 series later this year. Design renders of the two Pixel smartphones have leaked online. The leaked renders suggest a major design overhaul in the Pixel lineup. However, the design is not the only thing that’s getting an upgrade. The search engine giant is rumoured to launch its custom silicon for the Pixel line later this year. A few details of this upcoming custom SoC have leaked online. According to a new leak from tipster Yogesh, the upcoming chip from Google’s hardware stable will focus on Machine Learning (ML). The tipster further claims that it will perform on par with the Snapdragon 870 SoC. In addition, tipster Max Weinbach has revealed the key specs of the Google Pixel 6 Pro Let’s take a look at more details on the upcoming Google Silicon launching with the Pixel 6 series.

Google Silicon codenamed Whitechapel’s performance details leaked

Google is gearing up to unveil its first custom chipset later this year. The new SoC is rumoured to debut with the upcoming Pixel 6 series.

Some key details of Google’s upcoming silicon have leaked online. Tipster Yogesh claims that the new Google chipset codenamed Whitechapel is based on a 5nm architecture. The tipster further reveals that its performance is close to Snapdragon 870 SoC. Google is not trying to match the Snapdragon 888’s performance capabilities. It is instead focusing on Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence to match the performance of other mobile chips. It will have a Mali GPU under the hood. Details about the GPU are unknown at the moment.

It was previously reported that the Mountain View-based company is developing its own SoC in partnership with Samsung. The Whitechapel is actually an effort by the company to create their own systems on a chip to be used for upcoming Pixel handsets and Chromebooks. This is quite similar to what we see in how Apple uses their own chips in the iPhone and Mac.

Pixel 6 Pro specs leaked

The leaked details by Max Weinbach reveal the pricing details and the specs of the upcoming Google phone. He claims that the Pro model will launch at around $1,000, which is roughly Rs 73,000.

Weinbach further revealed that the phone will sport a QHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. A recent leak by OnLeaks revealed that the phone will have a 6.67-inch display with a hole-punch cutout. The regular Pixel will have a Full HD+ 120Hz display. The device will also pack a 5000 mAh battery.

It is getting a major camera upgrade as well. Tipster Yogesh had previously leaked that the Pro model will feature a triple-camera setup. It will have a large 50MP Sony Sensor. It will also feature an 8MP periscope camera with 5x zoom and an ultrawide sensor. The phone will also come with a colour correction sensor.

Google plans to launch the Pixel 6 series in October. However, the launch could get pushed to November due to the chip shortage. The device will come in a Green colour along with other options.

Pixel 5a, Pixel Watch and other details

Weinbach also stated that the Pixel 5a’s price will not be more than Pixel 4a. The 4a was launched in the US for USD 349 and Rs 29,900 in India. It will also not support wireless charging. Google’s first Pixel Watch will also have a custom 5nm chip under the hood. Details about this custom chip are unknown at the moment.
