Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has announced WhatsApp-based ticketing in the Delhi/NCR region. This service will help people skip queues and book a bus ticket with a lot of convenience. With this announcement, DTC has become the first bus service network to offer a WhatsApp-based ticketing system.
Delhi Bus Commuters Can Now Book Tickets on WhatsApp
WhatsApp has a new chatbot that lets DTC and DIMTS commuters to book a QR-based ticket for a single journey. The DTC WhatsApp-based ticketing system will let users book a maximum of six tickets using their preferred UPI payment system.
Moreover, those who commute on the same route daily or frequently can benefit from the Quick Purchase option. This option will automatically select the frequently commuted route’s starting and destination points, reducing the time to buy tickets.
How to Book DTC Tickets on WhatsApp?
DTC commuters will have to send a message to the chatbot to initiate the process. Follow the steps below to book bus tickets in Delhi online using WhatsApp.
1. Open your Phone’s camera and scan the QR code above. You can also send a ‘Hi’ to +91 8744073223.
2. Select your preferred language, Hindi or English.
3. Tap the Book Ticket option.
4. You will then be redirected to the web browser.
On the webpage, you can select the source and destination stops and the number of tickets. Once selected, tap Continue to make payment and book tickets. You will receive the QR-based bus tickets in the same chat window.
This is similar to how people can book Delhi Metro QR tickets via WhatsApp, introduced last year across all Delhi, Noida and Gurugram Rapid metro routes. For those who don’t know, a report by PTI in December 2023 revealed that DTC is working on offering a convenient ticket booking on WhatsApp to its users.
