Jio is rumoured to launch a new budget smartphone soon in India. The new Jio Phone is rumoured to offer 5G network support and come with some improved hardware over the outgoing model. Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) might host the new Jio Phone 5G launch event during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) later this year. The company is expected to announce more details about the same in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, specifications and features of the upcoming Reliance Jio smartphone have leaked online.
A new leak by tipster Abhishek Yadav has revealed some key specs of the Jio Phone 5G. Let’s take a look at the Jio Phone 5G specifications, features and other details known so far.
Jio Phone 5G: Specifications and Features (Leaked)
The leaked Jio Phone 5G specifications suggest that the device will get some upgrades over the outgoing model, including a new SoC and 5G support. According to the leaked details shared by Yadav, the Jio Phone 5G will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ SoC. A Geekbench listing of the device spotted a few months back revealed that the phone features a Snapdragon 480+ SoC under the hood.

The device will pack a beefy 5000mAh battery and offer 18W fast charging support. In addition to this, Yadav revealed that the device will feature a USB Type-C port for charging.
On the back, the device will likely sport a dual-camera setup. It is said to feature a 13MP primary camera sensor along with a 2MP secondary sensor. For selfies, Jio Phone 5G will feature an 8MP front camera. The phone is also said to offer support for Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity. In addition to this, there will be a side-mounted fingerprint scanner as well, according to Yadav.
Some other specifications of the phone had leaked in the past. Jio Phone 5G carries a model number LS1654QB5 and has a ‘ganga’ codename. There will also be a Syntiant NDP115 always-on AI processor, according to the report. Jio will launch the phone with Samsung’s 4GB LPPDDR4X RAM and 32GB storage. There should be an option to expand storage via a microSD card.
There will be a 6.5-inch IPS LCD panel with an HD+ resolution. The screen is said to offer support for a 90Hz refresh rate. Lastly, the phone will run Android 12 out of the box.
Recently, live images of the phone leaked online. The images showed that the phone has a waterdrop notch at the top centre of the display for the front camera. The phone has a fairly thick chin bezel, according to the alleged live image. On the back, there is a pill-shaped camera module at the top centre of the phone. The camera module text confirms that the device features a 13MP camera sensor. Jio’s upcoming budget 5G smartphone will feature AI capabilities for the camera.
