MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 Chipset Makes Global Debut With Vivo X100 Series

The Dimensity 9300 chipset was unveiled by MediaTek last month with Generative AI and several other performance upgrades. The chipset is now making its global debut. Previously, the processor was first made available on the Vivo X100 Series that launched in China in November this year.

MediaTek’s latest flagship chip has now made its global debut, as the Vivo X100 and X100 Pro have been launched in global markets. The company also hosted its MediaTek Diaries event in India revealing the details of the Dimensity 9300 processor. Let’s have a look.

MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Goes Global

The MediaTek Dimensity 9300 is an octa-core chipset based on TSMC’s 3rd generation 4nm architecture. It is equipped with four Cortex-X4 cores and four Cortex-A720 cores, and the chipset has a maximum clock speed of 3.25GHz.

The Dimensity 9300 is 15% faster in single-core performance, and up to 40% faster in multi-core tasks as compared to its predecessor, the Dimensity 9200. It also comes with a hardware-based Generative AI Engine with support for on-device LoRA Fusion.

MediaTek says that its latest chipset is eight times faster in transformer-based Generative AI while being 45% more power efficient. These AI capabilities can be utilized for processing text, images, and even music.

The Dimensity 9300 also gets a huge graphics upgrade with the Immortalis-G720 GPU. It is a 12-core GPU capable of raytracing and offers a 46% better performance than its predecessor. The processor is capable of handling raytracing gaming at 60fps.

The Dimensity 9300 features the 5G R16 modem that supports sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G bands. It also supports WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, along with NavIC navigation.

Vivo X100 Series To Soon Launch in India

Shortly after the global announcement, Vivo started posting teasers for the Vivo X100 Series in India. While the company has not revealed the exact launch date, we can expect the Vivo X100 to launch in India by January 2024.

The Vivo X100 and Vivo X100 Pro will be the first devices in India to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chipset. Both devices will feature Zeiss-powered rear cameras with periscope lenses.

Vivo X100 was launched in China with a 50MP primary OIS camera, a 64MP telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom and OIS, and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. The selfie camera is a 32MP sensor.

The Vivo X100 Pro gets a similar 50MP primary camera with OIS. It gets an upgraded periscope lens with a 50MP sensor capable of 4.3X optical zoom. The third camera is a 50MP ultrawide lens, along with a 32MP selfie camera.

The Vivo X100 features a 5000mAh battery, with support for 120W fast charging. The Vivo X100 gets a larger 5400 mAh battery and comes with 100W wired fast charging along with 50W wireless charging.

The Vivo X100 Series pricing is expected to start at around Rs 65,000 for the base variant, while the Vivo X100 Pro could launch at around Rs 90,000. The device will directly compete with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, and even the OnePlus 12.
