Ubisoft has announced a new 2D Prince of Persia game, The Rogue Prince of Persia. This is the second 2D Prince of Persia game from Ubisoft after the first game, The Last Crown. The Rogue Prince of Persia will be available this May as part of Steam’s Early Access.

The Rogue Prince of Persia is published by Ubisoft and developed by Evil Empire, the studio behind the iconic rogue-lite Dead Cells. Ubisoft has released a trailer for the game during the Triple I Initiative livestream, showing off some impressive cinematics and a bit of gameplay.

The game takes place in Tisphon, the capital of a fictional Persian empire under attack by Huns. Unlike The Lost Crown, this Prince wields a magical item that grants him constant resurrections.

The new Prince of Persia is a fast-paced action-platformer. Players use acrobatic moves and wall-running to fight enemies, avoid traps, and explore. The Prince has the mysterious ability to cheat death, which fueled his training. But it also unleashed a Hun invasion. He must now face his mistakes, redeem himself, and become the hero he was always meant to be.

Players can choose from various weapons like daggers, spears, and axes to suit their fighting style. Bows and grappling hooks add even more options, making each run through the game unique.

The game will be available in Early Access on Steam from May 14, 2024. According to Evil Empire, the team considered releasing the game in early access as they wanted to create the best version of this game by working with the player community.

The developers are committed to keeping the content fresh with ongoing updates based on early-access player feedback. Expect new levels, bosses, weapons, enemies, and upgrades to be added, ensuring the game continues to evolve.

To play the game, your PC will need at least Windows 10, an Intel i5-8600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a GTX 1060 3GB graphics card (or AMD Radeon RX 5500XT).

For the best experience, Ubisoft recommends a slightly more powerful setup with the same processor options but bumped up to the K or X variants (i5-8600K or Ryzen 5 3600X), 8GB of RAM, and a GTX 1060 6GB graphics card (or AMD Radeon RX 5600XT). In both cases, 2GB of free storage space is required.
