Vivo iQOO with Snapdragon 855 SoC, 44W Charging, Air Triggers Launched in China: Price, Features


Closely following its competitors Huawei, OPPO, and Xiaomi, Vivo has launched its own smartphone sub-brand: iQOO. Under this new sub-brand, the company has launched the first smartphone, the Vivo iQOO, which is a gaming-focused smartphone. It features an AMOLED screen with a U-shaped notch and an in-display fingerprint reader. The phone is equipped with Snapdragon 855 processor, up to 12GB RAM, up to 256GB storage, triple-camera at the rear, 13MP selfie camera, dual-SIM card slot and a 4000mAh battery with 44W fast charging.

It has been launched in China where it will compete with Xiaomi’s Black Shark Helo and the Nubia Red Magic Mars, but we’re not too sure if the iQOO will be launched in the Indian market. Still, it’s worth checking out its features, specifications, and pricing.

Since the Vivo iQOO is a gaming smartphone, it comes with a flashy design and an RGB light strip, something that would appeal to gamers. The phone has a 6.41-inch Super AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and a U-shaped notch. There’s an optical in-display fingerprint reader, too. There’s a glass back with vertical RGB light strip in the middle.

The phone runs Android 9 Pie with FunTouch OS 9 and uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset for best-in-class performance. The chipset is paired to either 6GB, 8GB or 12GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. It has a dual-SIM card slot, 4G LTE, GPS, GLONASS, Wi-Fi ac/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. The Vivo iQOO is powered by a 4000mAh battery that can be rapidly charged using a 44W Flash Charger. It should be noted that the entry-level variant of the phone with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage lacks 44W charging feature.

At the rear, there’s a triple-camera setup with 12MP (Sony IMX363 sensor) primary camera with f/1.79 aperture and 4K video recording. The 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera has a 120-degree FoV lens and f/2.4 aperture. The third camera is a 2MP depth-sensing camera with f/2.4 aperture.

Vivo iQOO Price Starts From CNY 2,998

The Vivo iQOO is available in China in four memory configurations. The pricing of the variant with 6GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, and no ultra-fast 44W charging is CNY 2,998 (approx. INR 31,738). The variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage costs CNY 3,298 (approx. INR 34,914). The Vivo iQOO variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage is priced at CNY 3,598 (approx. INR 38,090) and the top-end variant of the phone which comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at CNY 4,298 (approx. INR 45,500).
