WhatsApp Channels was launched worldwide last year in September to allow people, teams, and organisations to share information with their followers. The Meta-owned instant messaging platform is known for constantly improving the user experience with new features, and WhatsApp Channels is no exception. Mark Zuckerberg, Meta Founder and CEO, took to his WhatsApp Channel to announce a host of new WhatsApp Channels features. As you can see in the screenshot above, Mark Zuckerberg announced new WhatsApp Channel features in a brief post followed by a poll. In his post, Zuckerberg says, “We’re announcing a bunch of new features for WA channels, including voice notes, multiple admins, and sharing status and polls, which is great because I need help settling a debate.

He then posted a poll asking to settle a debate on which is the best game of all time with options like Civ, GoldenEye 007, Call of Duty, Zelda, Super Mario, Street Fighter, and more.

WhatsApp said in its statement that over 7 billion voice messages are sent on the platform daily. The feature is now available on WhatsApp channels as well, allowing admins to share updates with their followers through voice notes. Speaking of admins, WhatsApp has also increased the number of admins to 16.

WhatsApp Channel admins can now seek the opinions of their channel followers by using the latest poll feature, which was previously available in WhatsApp Groups. The company also added a new Share to Status feature to Channels. Now, followers can share their favorite creators’ or influencers’ channel updates on their WhatsApp statuses. There are new features rolling out to WhatsApp Channels.

In related news, another Meta-owned platform, Instagram, announced a new feature after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series. Instagram head Adam Mosseri posted on the IG Updates channel on Instagram that Galaxy S24 series users will be able to benefit from the Super HDR image support on the platform. Pictures captured using Instagram camera will offer more detailed highlights, shadows, and accurate colour reproduction.
