WhatsApp is reportedly working on offering an option to add a verified badge on business channels. The new screen is intended for WhatsApp business users to add a verified badge to their channels. This will help WhatsApp businesses establish their authenticity on the platform and distinguish themselves from the competition.

Those who want to use the feature can head to the Play Store and update to the latest WhatsApp Beta for Android update. Let’s take a look at the newest feature.

As you can see in the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a new screen to help business channels add verified badges.

According to the information on the new screen, when business users add verified badges to their channels, their channel name and profile picture will be updated to match the verified business details. WhatsApp Business users will be able to edit these details through their business profile.

However, to display their verified business badge on their channel, WhatsApp business users will have to be subscribed to Meta Verified. This doesn’t come as a surprise since Mark Zuckerberg recently announced that the ability for businesses on WhatsApp to subscribe to Meta Verified will be coming to the platform soon.

The Meta Verified option on WhatsApp will be exclusive to businesses and optional. It will not be available to individual and non-business accounts on WhatsApp. Additionally, the company has stated that to get Meta Verified, the channel information should be coherent with the corresponding business details to prevent misuse of the verification system and impersonation.

The ability to show verified badges in WhatsApp channels will increase the visibility and authenticity of the business channels. It will increase the credibility of the business and WhatsApp will also add them to the channel directory.

In India, the monthly subscription of Meta Verified is priced at Rs 699 for Instagram and Facebook on Android and iOS. It remains to be seen whether the price will stay the same for WhatsApp Business.
