Xiaomi Redmi 7A Unveiled in China, Features Snapdragon 439, 5.45-inch Screen, 4000mAh Battery

After recently showing up on Chinese regulator TENAA’s website, Xiaomi’s Redmi 7A smartphone has finally gone official in China. The phone is a watered-down version of the Redmi 7. It is an entry-level offering from Xiaomi and a successor to the Redmi 6A smartphone. For now, the phone will be up for sale in China, and Xiaomi is yet to reveal whether it will be launching it in other regions.

Xiaomi Redmi 7A With Snapdragon 439 SoC, 13MP Rear Camera

The Xiaomi Redmi 7A comes with a 5.45-inch HD display at 720×1440 pixels resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone ships with Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10. Xiaomi has introduced two special software features or modes in the phone for senior citizens and a Family Guardian. Under the hood, the phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC. The RAM and storage capacity is still unknown, but we do know that it allows storage expansion up to 256GB via microSD card.

For optics, the Redmi 7A has a 13MP rear camera with Phase-detection Autofocus (PDAF) and a 5MP selfie shooter on the front with AI Face Unlock feature. Other camera features include AI beauty and AI background blur. The Redmi 7A lacks a fingerprint sensor, which means that the users will have to either rely on the AI Face Unlock feature or use conventional methods such as Pattern, PIN, or Password. A 4,000mAh battery completes the device with 10W charging support. Connectivity support includes dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, a 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS, and more. Additionally, it also boasts P2i splash-resistant coating to shield it against accidental liquid splashes.

Xiaomi Redmi 7A Expected Price in India

For now, Xiaomi has not revealed the pricing of the phone in China. The company will be announcing it on May 28, 2019, alongside the launch of the first phone in the K-series, the Redmi K20. Concerning Redmi 7A, all we know is that the phone comes in Blue and Matte Black color options. We will soon get to know more about the Redmi 7A and also the Redmi K20 that is being promoted as a ‘flagship killer 2.0.’ Earlier, Xiaomi even mocked OnePlus with the teaser of its upcoming flagship phone. The company has already set high hopes for the upcoming phone and it would be interesting to see if it successfully trumps the OnePlus 7 Pro.
