Nothing CEO Carl Pei has confirmed the launch of a new smartphone via a recent post on X (formerly Twitter). The London-based company has been rumoured to debut an affordable variant of the Nothing Phone (2) smartphone for a while now, Pei’s latest post is seen as a confirmation of this.

Keep in mind, that reliable tipster Kamila had recently shared the specifications and launch date of the upcoming Nothing Phone (2a). Another tipster Yogesh Brar had shared live images of the PVT unit of the forthcoming smartphone. The live images and the schematic render, which were provided by an Android app developer gave an overview of the design of the upcoming device. The photos also confirm that Nothing is departing from the existing design language for the affordable phone.

Nothing to Debut a New Smartphone Soon

The post shared by Carl Pei, founder and CEO of Nothing, only confirms the arrival of a new smartphone. Carl Pei doesn’t confirm the launch timeline or the moniker of the smartphone in the new post. Nothing is rumoured to debut the forthcoming smartphone at the upcoming MWC 2024. Nothing has scheduled an event on MWC 2024 called “Nothing to See” on February 27.

The upcoming smartphone has already received BIS certification confirming the India debut of the smartphone. The device is rumoured to debut in four regions: India, Japan, Europe and Global. The smartphones appears to have the codename PacmanIND, PacmnaJPN, PacmanEEA and Pacman respectively for each region.

Nothing Phone (2a): What We Know So Far

Nothing will debut the smartphone in Black and White colour options. The company will likely price the smartphone at EUR 400 (approx. Rs 36,800) for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

The smartphone will likely sport an AMOLED display with a 2412 x 1080 pixels resolution. The company is likely to source the display from BOE and Visionox.

Nothing will ship the smartphone with seven wallpapers dubbed ‘Ruxe’, ‘Nexul’, ‘Azunim White’, ‘Orbique’, ‘Rubrane Black’, ‘Ambra’, and ‘Virmar’. The smartphone will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset, built on a 4nm process. The upcoming Nothing Phone (2a) will be the first smartphone from Nothing to debut with a MediaTek SoC.

The chipset features two Cortex A715 cores at 2.8GHz, six Cortex A510 cores at 2.0GHz, and a Mali-G610 MP4 GPU. The upcoming smartphone will sport a circular camera island with dual rear cameras. The setup will comprise a 50MP primary sensor with OIS and a 50MP ultrawide sensor.
