Google Pixel 8a Models Spotted on Bluetooth SIG Certification Website; Launch Seems Imminent

Google is expected to launch the Google Pixel 8a smartphone at Google I/O scheduled for May 14. Ahead of the Google I/O announcement, we have spotted the upcoming mid-range Google Pixel 8a on the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) certification website.

The Google Pixel 8a made an appearance on the Bluetooth SIG certification website with the model numbers G8HHN, GKV4X, G6GPR, and G576D. As per the listing, the mid-range Pixel handset will feature support for Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity.

The Google Pixel 8a’s retail box earlier surfaced on the web, which revealed the G6GPR model number. Also, the upcoming Pixel handset with the codename Akita was spotted on the Geekbench benchmark database, which revealed that it will be powered by an underclocked Tensor G3 SoC. The handset, as per the benchmark listing, will be equipped with 8GB of RAM and will come pre-loaded with Android 14.

Recently, the tech giant ‘accidentally’ confirmed Google Pixel 8a’s existence. The upcoming Google handset is tipped to arrive in four colour options – Obsidian, Porcelain, Bay, and Mint shades. The Pixel 8a might be the first mid-range Pixel handset with 256GB of internal storage.

The Google Pixel 8a’s specifications have also surfaced on the web suggesting that the handset will feature a 6.1-inch OLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate, 2400 x 1080 pixel resolution, and 1400nits peak brightness. The handset is tipped to sport a dual-rear camera setup including a 64MP Sony IMX787 primary camera and a 13MP Sony IMX712 ultra-wide camera. The selfie camera could stand at 13MP.
