OnePlus has a good record of providing timely Android updates to its devices. The company recently launched the OnePlus 8T which boots Android 11 based Oxygen OS 11 out of the box. OnePlus has also rolled out Android 11 based Oxygen OS 11 update to OnePlus 8, and OnePlus 8 Pro. In a rush to be amongst the first OEMs to roll-out the latest Android update for the flagship devices, brands often tend to compromise on optimization. That certainly seems to be the case with OnePlus this year, at least with the OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8. Going by various reports, OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8 battery drain issue is affecting user experience badly.

OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8 battery drain issue isn’t just limited to the OxygenOS 11 Stable users, but users running Android 11 Beta 3 on devices are also facing the same issue. As per a report by PiunikaWeb, users of these devices took it to the OnePlus Community and OnePlus subreddit to highlight the above-mentioned issue.

OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8 Battery Drain Issue

A OnePlus 8 user on OnePlus Community posted,

“After Android 11 update, the battery of OnePlus 8 drains very fast and that too without AOD. The SOT has reduced considerably and battery drain during standby and at night is also very high.”

Another OnePlus 8 user on Reddit posted,

“Any users that updated to a11 on the 8 non-pro experience battery drain? I lose 4-5% per hour with the phone just idling. I updated approx 2 weeks ago via official OTA, and thought that it would take a while for the os to adjust the new battery. But it still drains a lot. Any settings that I should look in particular that could potentially drain the battery? My phone is 6 months old only, and I was getting great battery life on a10.”
