OnePlu 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro are the first two smartphones from the brand to receive the Android 12 beta build. The company confirmed the news after Google revealed the Android 12 at the I/O 2021. Besides, brands like OPPO, Xiaomi, Vivo, and Realme have also announced that their flagship smartphones are going to receive the beta build. However, it seems that the OnePlus 9 owner didn’t get happiness for a long time.

Soon after the announcement, the OnePlus 9 series users started receiving the Android 12 beta build on their devices. But it seems a lot of users are reporting that their handsets got bricked after installing the beta build. According to a report from 91 Mobile, the company has temporarily removed the Android 12 beta download links. Let’s have a closer look at the issue faced by the OnePlus users.

Android 12 Beta Reportedly Bricking OnePlus 9 Series devices

On its official forum, a staff member stated that he has, “temporarily removed the download links based on the feedback from users in this thread. I’m sharing the feedback with the software team so they can look into it in the morning at HQ.” The staff member didn’t mention anything about the feedback clearly, but one user has commented in the same thread that the Android 12 beta is reportedly bricking the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro.

Android Police report claims that if the user forgets to unlock the OnePlus 9 or OnePlus 9 Pro’s bootloader before starting the beta installation. “If you don’t, your phone will not be able to get past the setup process where the device verifies your old Google account for FRP (factory reset protection),” reads the report. It seems that the company has acknowledged the issue and might be working on the fix. It recommended not to install non-Google betas on your smartphone, this might cause boot looping.
