WhatsApp Beta for iOS Spotted Testing Ability to Search Messages by Date; Android App Shows New Emojis

WhatsApp is working on 21 new emojis, which are currently under development.


WhatsApp has been working on multiple features for its messaging app. The company tests these features with a limited number of beta users before making them available for the masses. Among the list of upcoming WhatsApp features are a couple of new ones spotted online. WABetaInfo, the tracker website for various WhatsApp updates, has spotted some beta features being tested on the iOS and Android apps.

The Android beta app has been spotted adding new emojis, which are currently under development. WABetaInfo also spotted a new beta feature in the iOS app. The new WhatsApp iOS beta app tests the ability to search messages by date. Two New WhatsApp Features Incoming

WhatsApp has rolled out a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to on Android. The latest update introduces new emojis, which will be released in the future update.

WABetInfo claimed that the Meta-owned company is working on 21 new emojis, which are currently under development. The messaging app has also quietly redesigned eight emojis in the beta app. The screenshot below shows the new emojis along with those that have been redesigned. The eight emojis have been updated in the latest beta build from the Play Store and 21 upcoming emojis are planned to be released to all beta testers at a later date, according to WABetaInfo.

The company has also updated its iOS app to version iOS This new iOS beta app is testing a feature which gives users the ability to search for messages by date. Users will finally be able to jump to a particular date of the conversation if they do not know the exact word that was used in the chat. WABetaInfo revealed that the feature was under development two years ago but WhatsApp only recently returned to develop it again.

A few beta users can use the search feature in a chat. If the calendar icon shows up, it means that the feature is enabled for your WhatsApp account. You can then set the date and jump directly into the conversation.

If you cannot see the calendar icon, WABetaInfo states that the feature will be available at a later date. More users should be a part of the beta test in the coming weeks.

There is no word on when the feature will be available for all users. Considering they are in the early stages of development, it may take some time for WhatsApp to roll out the new features.
