Xiaomi MIX Flip to Debut with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC
The tipster confirms that Xiaomi will be launching a couple of smartphones with the 2022 flagship chipset from Qualcomm, i.e., the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Le Weibing, Xiaomi President, recently hinted that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC will power the upcoming vanilla Redmi K70. Xiaomi President predicts that the chipset will be commonly used, similar to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC.
Qualcomm’s first generation 8 Gen 1 processor could have performed better in terms of efficiency and heating. The subsequent Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC fixed all those issues to an extent. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 came with significant improvement in terms of performance and efficiency. For those unaware, the 8 Gen 2 SoC is built on TSMC’s 4nm process.
The chipset features one Cortex-X3 core at 3.2GHz, two Cortex-A715 cores at 2.8GHz, two Cortex-A710 cores at 2.8GHz, three Cortex-A510 cores at 2.0GHz and Adreno 740 GPU. The tipster further adds Xiaomi will ship a tablet and small foldable device with the 8 Gen 2 SoC. The small foldable device that the tipster is likely to be the upcoming Xiaomi MIX Flip clamshell smartphone.
The upcoming smartphone was listed in IMEI certification with the model number 2311BPN23C. Digital Chat Station previously confirmed that Xiaomi will launch the smartphone in 2024. He also added that Xiaomi will equip the Xiaomi MIX Flip smartphone with a Qualcomm SoC. The upcoming clamshell smartphone is likely to rival the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, OPPO Find N3 Flip, Moto Razr 40 and other clamshell smartphones.
The tablet the tipster refers to is likely to be the upcoming Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro tablet. Xiaomi is tipped to equip the tablet with a 144Hz LCD panel and square-shaped camera module. GSMChina shared a schematic render of the forthcoming MIX Flip clamshell smartphone.
The render reveals that Xiaomi will equip the device with triple rear cameras. The setup will comprise a telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom.
