Zomato, one of India’s leading food delivery platforms, has suspended the renewal of its premium subscription service, Zomato Pro in India. The company confirmed the news after a Twitter user stated that they are unable to renew their membership, which is about to expire soon. Zomato Pro’s Twitter support account revealed that it has paused the renewal/purchase of a new membership as it is working on a new experience for users.

The company had paused the membership of Zomato Pro/ Pro Plus earlier this year for users. The service is still available for those who had purchased a subscription before the company stopped taking new sign-ups. Once the membership expires, existing users will not be able to renew Zomato Pro / Pro Plus in India.

Zomato Pro Discontinued, Replacement Coming Soon

Zomato confirmed that it has stopped the renewal of its premium subscription service, Zomato Pro for subscribers in India. The company said it is working on a new experience, which will be available soon. Zomato did not reveal any details about the upcoming service at the time of writing this.

The company has discontinued its subscription service multiple times in the past. It started first with Zomato Gold, which offered discounts and deals for dine-in services. However, due to COVID-19 lockdowns, which imposed several restrictions on restaurant dine-in services, the service was discontinued. Zomato later introduced its Pro subscription service, which offered discounts on various online orders. It later introduced the Pro Plus subscription service, which offered free delivery and cashback on online orders.

However, all these services have now been discontinued. A Moneycontrol report previously claimed that Zomato is working on a new loyalty programme, which will be more dine-in friendly. The exact details about the new service’s availability remain unknown at the moment. Meanwhile, Tomato’s arch-rival Swiggy continues to offer its Swiggy One membership for users. The service offers discounts, and free delivery for restaurant food orders and groceries via Swiggy Instamart.
