Sony BRAVIA 9 II 115-inch Launched in India With True RGB Technology, 12-Speaker Audio

With this launch, Sony's True RGB television portfolio in India now covers screen sizes ranging from 55 inches to 115 inches across the BRAVIA 7 II and BRAVIA 9 II lineups.

Sony BRAVIA 9 II 115-inch Features and Specifications

The BRAVIA 9 II is based on Sony's True RGB display technology. Unlike conventional backlight systems, its RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro independently controls red, green, and blue LEDs.

Sony claims this approach allows the television to produce the widest colour volume offered by the company in a home television so far. The system is designed to improve colour accuracy, contrast, gradation, and perceived depth, particularly in scenes containing bright highlights alongside darker areas.

Picture processing is handled by Sony's BRAVIA XR Processor, which analyses individual elements within a scene and adjusts colour, contrast, clarity, and depth. The company is pitching the television around faithfully reproducing content in line with the filmmaker's original intent.

X-Wide Angle Pro is also included to maintain colour consistency when the screen is viewed from different positions. This could be particularly useful on a 115-inch television, which is more likely to be installed in a large room with viewers seated across a wider area.

Luminance Booster Pro increases brightness while attempting to maintain colour accuracy, while Smooth Colour Gradation is intended to reduce visible banding in skies, shadows, and other areas with subtle tonal transitions.

However, the 115-inch model does not include Immersive Black Screen Pro. The low-reflection screen treatment, which is designed to reduce glare and improve perceived black levels, remains available on the other BRAVIA 9 II models.

12-Speaker Acoustic Multi-Audio+ System

Sony has equipped the 115-inch BRAVIA 9 II with an Acoustic Multi-Audio+ system comprising 12 speakers.

The configuration includes two subwoofers, eight full-range speakers, and two tweeters. Sony says the arrangement is designed to produce a wider soundstage while keeping dialogue aligned more closely with the action on the screen.

The integrated speaker setup should be more capable than a conventional television audio system, although buyers setting up a screen of this size may still consider pairing it with a dedicated BRAVIA Theatre system or a multi-speaker home theatre setup.

Google TV and Gemini Support

The BRAVIA 9 II runs Google TV, bringing together content from supported streaming platforms and apps within a personalised interface. Users will also have access to the Google Play Store, voice controls, content recommendations, and casting features.

Sony says Gemini for Google TV will be introduced through a future over-the-air update. The integration is expected to enable more natural conversational interactions when searching for content or asking questions through the television.

The company has not provided a timeline for the Gemini update.

Sony Strengthens Its Premium Large-Screen TV Strategy

The arrival of a 115-inch flagship gives Sony a product at the extreme end of India's premium television market, where brands are increasingly introducing larger screens for movies, gaming, and live sports.

Sony's True RGB portfolio now consists of the BRAVIA 7 II in 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, and 85-inch sizes. The BRAVIA 9 II is offered in 75-inch, 85-inch, and 115-inch variants.

This wider range allows Sony to extend the same core display positioning across different premium price segments, instead of limiting True RGB technology to its largest and most expensive television.

Sunil Nayyar, Managing Director of Sony India, said the launch reflects the company's continued focus on bringing a cinema-like experience into the home. Sony is also continuing its "Cinema is Coming Home" campaign with filmmaker and BRAVIA brand ambassador S.S. Rajamouli.

The 115-inch model is clearly not aimed at the conventional premium television buyer. Its size, installation requirements, and Rs 28.99 lakh best-buy price place it closer to luxury home theatre equipment.

Its introduction is still strategically significant for Sony. Beyond giving the company a new halo product, the television strengthens BRAVIA's positioning around large-screen cinematic experiences at a time when 75-inch and 85-inch TVs are becoming increasingly visible in the Indian premium market.
