Apple iPhone 15 series models launched worldwide at the Wonderlust event at the company’s headquarters in Cupertino, California. The lineup includes the vanilla iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus along with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra. While the higher-end iPhone 15 models get all the new goodies like A17 Bionic SoC, periscope-style telephoto lens, and more, the vanilla iPhone 15 models get all the goodies from last year’s iPhone 14 Pro lineup. The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus get Dynamic Island display, A16 Bionic processor, USB-C port with fast charging, and more. iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus Price, Availability

The iPhone 15 is priced at Rs 79,900 for the base 128 GB variant, whereas the iPhone 15 Plus starts at Rs 89,900. Apple is offering these smartphones in Black, Green, Blue, Yellow, and Pink colours. The new models will be available for pre-order starting September 15 and will go on sale from September 22.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus Specifications, Features

The iPhone 15 comes with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display and the Plus model features a larger 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. These displays offer HDR, True Tone, P3 colour gamut, 2,000nits peak brightness, and more. Both these iPhones come with pill-shaped cutout housing FaceID sensors and a front camera. The vanilla models also get the Dynamic Island functionality this year, which is an interactive space that displays dynamic notifications and alerts from various apps or services. However, the refresh rate is still 60Hz with the 120Hz ProMotion panel reserved for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra.

Coming to the performance, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are powered by last year’s 4nm-based A16 Bionic chip. It comprises a six-core cluster with two performance cores and four efficiency cores. The processor is backed by a 5‑core GPU to handle gaming and graphics performance and a U2 chip for improved precision finding. Out of the box, these smartphones boot the latest iOS 17 with intuitive features like Contact Posters, Journal, NameDrop, StandBy Mode, iMessage Check-in, Roadside Assistance, Emergency Satellite, SOS, and more.

In the camera department, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus get a 48-megapixel primary camera with Sensor-Shift OIS, f/1.6 aperture, and 26mm focal length. The secondary camera is a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2X optical zoom. On the front, there’s a 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera with autofocus. The camera features include Smart HDR, portrait lighting, Deep Fusion, Photonic Engine, HDR video, 4K Cinematic video, advanced night mode, action mode, and more.

While Apple did not reveal the battery capacity, it confirmed that iPhone 15 and 15 Plus offer all-day battery life. Additionally, the USB-C port supports fast wired charging and can also charge accessories. There’s also support for the standard MagAsafe wireless charging.
