Live Images of Xiaomi’s First Electric Car Surface Online Through CMIIT Certification

Xiaomi has been one of the fastest-growing companies in global markets. The smartphone giant launched its first device in 2011, and today it has become the third-largest phone maker in the world. The company is also known for its ecosystem products in China, which they have been slowly bringing to global regions as well.

Xiaomi was reportedly said to be developing its electric car. While the company never shared details about the project publically, live images of its first electric car have surfaced online through CMIIT certification. The report also suggests that Xiaomi could launch three electric cars soon.

Xiaomi SU7 EV Live Images and Specifications Leaked

Xiaomi’s first electric car is reportedly named the Xiaomi Speed Ultra 7, or simply Xiaomi SU7. The vehicle has been spotted on China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CMIIT) portal, which has revealed the live images, specifications, and model details about the car.

As per the certification, three cars are expected to be launched. The base model is supposed to be the Xiaomi SU7 with the model numbers BJ7000MBEVR2 and BJ7000MBEVA1. It will have a single electric motor with a peak power of 220kW (295hp). The listing suggests that the motor will be supplied by United Automotive Electronic Systems (UAES).

The Xiaomi SU7 car will reportedly feature a lithium phosphate battery, supplied by FinDreams, which also manufactures batteries for BYD Cars. Xiaomi’s electric car is expected to offer LiDAR and other safety features.

The other two cars, the Xiaomi SU7 Pro and the SU7 Max could feature a similar design as the base model. The cars are expected to have dual motors of 275kW (386hp), provided by Suzhou Innovance Automotive.

The dimensions of the Xiaomi SU7 are 4997mm (length) x 1963mm (width) x 1455mm (height) with a wheelbase of 3000mm and will weigh 1980kg as per CMIIT. The SU7 Pro and the SU7 Max will have similar dimensions but will be heavier with a curb weight of 2205kg, due to dual motors.

Leaked images suggest that the Xiaomi SU7 car could be a C-Class Sedan. It also shows that the car will get allow wheels, and will feature disc brakes at the front and rear. The overall shape of the car is similar to the Tesla, with a boot that blends with the slope of the roof.

Xiaomi is expected to integrate the car with its newly launched HyperOS. This will help the car to seamlessly integrate with other Xiaomi products. There is a possibility that users can control some features of their car using their smartphone.

Xiaomi has not officially released any details of its first electric vehicle. As per rumours, the Xiaomi SU7 car could go into production by December 2023. Xiaomi could start the deliveries of its car by Q1 2024. The Xiaomi SU7 electric car is expected to be priced at CNY 149,000 (approx Rs 17 lakhs).
